For the casual audience member they could get easily confused I'm sure. After the pretty quick reboot that TIH was, this would put it over the edge.
People still go to see Batman and James Bond movies.
Yep...people who are into film and watch lots of movies, don't really have a problem with different actors playing the same character...because if you watch enough movies, you will see this happens a lot more than the average teenager thinks it does.
I have seen (approximately, this is off the top of my head) -
33 Tarzan movies with 11 different actors
22 Bond movies with 7 different actors
9 different Batman movies with 7 different actors
7 John Dillenger movies with 7 different actors
8 Superman movies with 4 different actors
15 Billy the Kid movies with 14 different actors
20 Dracula movies with around 15 different actors
It goes on and on.....
The GA won't make a huge thing out of it. The msot they'll do is, "Whoa, a new guy is playing Banner? What happened to the other guy?" Then get over it. It's not gonna lose money because of it.
Good. Hopefully that will put an end to this episode.
I've had a very long time to watch a great many movies.Heh, I don't know what's more impressive, the statistics themselves or the fact you've seen all these films.
very intresting, though. dont forget dr who and sherlock holmes actors as well.![]()
I dare say, all of them were hoping for blockbuster success, few people make movies hoping they bomb. But what you need to keep in mind with that list of movies with different actors playing the lead, how many of them were the type of blockbuster success that Marvel is hoping...banking on...Avengers being?
The list of movie series that were made expressly to be seen as fully connected series is quite short and of fairly recent invention. The STAR WARS movies fall into the category (even though the first one was made with only the hope that it would recoup its cost of production...the fact that it became so phenominal and allowed Lucas to write out a planned number of sequels with an end was just luck)....other connected movies seen as a whole include the LOTR trilogy and the HARRY POTTER films. There is a chance that the recent Nolan BATMAN movies could come together as an interconnected series leading to a definate ending or giant climax...but that's for the future to tell. Were those 20 Dracula movies the tentpole that Marvel is setting Avengers to be? Were films years prior to that 17th Dracula film setting it up for a spectacular event?
Dear Marvel,
Get Weta.
The end.

Also, if you needed one more reason to be excited for Avengers, Ruffalo tells he'll be playing history's first-ever 3-D Hulk: "I hope I don't bulge in anyone's face, that's all I have to say."
