The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

don't get me wrong this movie was still good and was worth the $10 i spent for the midnight showing, but it could have been better imo

yea i agree it could have been better.
one of the things i loved most about in this movie was the message about forgiveness, absolutely loved how that was the message of this movie

-Sandman in the underground train fight.
-Peter strutting down the street.
-Reporter and those two kids during the final fight.
-Butler scene.
-Jazz scene.
-Harry getting amnesia.
-Sandman flying.
-Giant Sandman.
-Gwen's character.
-Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer.
-Crane scene.
What they should of put in was:
-Harry in a Goblin costume.
-Harry becoming a quadriplegic after he gets clotheslined.
-But Harry finds other ways to attack Peter,like he:
1.Creates Sandman to kill Spider-Man.(When Sandman asks Harry how does he find Spider-Man,have Harry tell him to commit a crime).

2.Harry also ruins Pete and MJ's realationship(Have Harry hire a woman to seduce Peter,and the symbiote doesn't help)where MJ ends up leaving town,thinking it would be best if her and Pete took a break for awhile(Have her go to Hollywood to try and become an actress,and have her stay gone until SM-5).
-Give Eddie Brock tons of character development.
-Show Black Spider-Man taking out regular criminals in very brutal ways.
-Different actress to play MJ.
-Sandman at a museum stealing a valuable object,trips the alarms and black spidey shows up.Fight takes place in the museum where Sandman and black spidey destroy everything inside as they fight each other.

Then have the fight take place out on the streets until Sandman runs across the street to a construction site where a huge fight takes place there and doesn't end until black spidey ends up pouring wet cement onto Sandman,putting an end to him.
-Show Harry able to move parts of his body as the movie goes by.
-Have black spidey decide to pay his quadriplegic friend a visit for ruining his realtionship with MJ,and for creating Sandman to try and kill him.
-Have Harry be all healed up before black spidey shows up.
-Have Harry in the Goblin's lair as the alarm goes off and Harry sees on a monitor that black spidey is the intruder.
-Black spidey doesn't know where the Goblin's lair is,so as black spidey is looking for Harry,Harry is suiting up in his Goblin gear.
After Harry is suited up,Harry exits the Goblin's lair,and black spidey and the Goblin fight each other.
-Have Aunt May seen waiting for Peter at his apartment standing next to the front door when Peter is coming up the stairs.Aunt May tries to pry into why Peter has been acting the way he has been lately,and then the symbiote shows it's ugly face and Aunt May goes falling down the stairs.
-Have Aunt May in the hospital in critical condition.
-Have Peter take off the symbiote because he realizes what the symbiote has done,it has made MJ break up with him and leave town,it made him kill Sandman and Harry(So he thinks),Aunt May is in the hospital fighting for her life.
-Eddie Brock becoming Venom being the last shot of the movie....

Ok, I may be a sweet girl and all, but seriously, dude, you must be as crazy as your namesake if you think that there should be seducing in the movie. These movies are supposed to be for family viewing. None of that, please!

Sorry GoldGoblin. I generally agree with you, but this is just...



One thing that I'd improve for Sandman is take away the Uncle Ben stuff and make him guy who'll do anything to protect his daughter. I'm sensing that Raimi tried to find a balance between this and him being sympathetic, but I think it would've worked better if Marko were one or the other, rather than a hodgepodge of both.

Also, after he was announced as the villain, I figured his mode of travel would be to dissolve into sand and slip through the cracks in the street and sewer grates to travel underground. It just makes more sense that way.

I would have given the whole script an overhaul .

*I would have left out and Gwen , and Kept Eddie but brought in Liz Allen as Harry 's love interest.

* Hobgoblin would be the only villian . Harry would lead a double life while wanting revenge on Peter he has a chance at happiness with Liz Allen one of MJ's friends from Midtown high.

* Liz would be the one Harry shares that would cooking/kiss scene with

* Peter would get the symbiote in a similar vein to the 90's animated series thus having John Jammeson make an appearance.

* The Symbiote slowly changes him an makes him more arrogant , impulsive, and violent .

*No emo stuff or dancing stuff. He begin to realize is losing control of his own life.

*At one point after Brock writes a story slamming Spiderman the black suited Spidey would show up at the bugle and threaten Brock and Jameson .

* He would start neglecting MJ with the symbiote not before as in the film.

* MJ would be coming to terms with Peter being Spiderman finding it harder to deal with then she expected this hightened game with Harry get's deadlier. She knows Peter isn't telling her why he and Harry aren't speaking and so she demands to know what Peter is hiding .

* Harry would be truley coming to terms with his father's legacy. Oscorp is becoming bankrupt in the wake of the Doc Ock mess, Eddie Brock is writing slanderous stories about the late Norman Osborn bringing back old memories for Harry

* I'd have flashbacks of Harry as a child with Norman's wife giving some insight into his life with Norman as a father of course featuring Dafoe.

* I would have Peter be the one injuried in the first battle with the Hobgoblin as Harry's new formula is far more potent then his father's. On of the things the symbiote would do is to heal his injuries and in the second battle with the black suit Peter would whup Harry's butt.

*No memory loss stuff for Harry . I'd have Liz bring out a different side of him. She can tell he's wounded and she's the only person who can heal him.

* After Peter has alienated himself from MJ, Attacked Jameson and brock and nearly killed Harry he would get rid of the symbiote.

Those are some of the many things I'd change. It would be a very different film.

You know that shot of Pete looking into the mirror and then the symbiote with teeth flashes that was cut,I just thought it would be better if that happened when Peter was arguing with Aunt May out in the hall of his apartment,and when Aunt May sees the monster face she backs away and falls down the stairs.

This would be the thing that would make Peter realize what the symbiote has done to his life.It has hurt all the ones he cares about.

I like your idea up until the falls down the stairs part. It could be a very great scene, or a very comical scene, depending on how it was shot. Very tricksy. If she did indeed fall down the stairs, have Peter rush down to help her, only to have her push him away and skitter away from him. It might also be an opportunity for him to inadvertently reveal his identity to her. That last one might rile a few folks though, so maybe not.

Sandman had less development, but he's never been a really deep character in the comics, so why should he upstage everyone else in the movie?

Because no one wants to see a lame character in a movie, no matter how lame they were in the novel, graphic novel, poem, or whatever else they were in previously.

That doesn't change the fact that as the director, you still have to put forth all of your passion, knowledge and enthusiasm towards to project (if you want to project to be good). Sam didn't like Venom from the jump, so what do you expect. It's not Sony's fault that Sam and his brother came up with that lackluster script. It was as if, the Raimis had no clue what the hell to do so they essentially, grasp at straws. Personally, I fear that Sam is kind of getting burned out on Spider-Man.

It also wasn't Sony's fault that Sam got out medicore to awful performances out of Tobey Maguire, Kirstin Dunst, James Franco and Topher Grace. Also, as far as I know, it wasn't Sony's fault that all of that camp nonsense and plotholes got on screen.

True enough, but someone has to be held responsible. Who do you think should be held responsible for foisting SM3 on the public?

They could have done better. They have done better: witness SM1 and especially SM2. They should have done better.

Nothing you say after this matters. You obviously know nothing about Spider-Man. In the movie his was simply called "New Goblin" while in the comics he is straight up the "Green Goblin." The Hobgoblin was Roderick Kingsley, Samuel Donovan, Ned Leeds, and Jason Macendale Jr.

Well, after a year of hearing fans' "ideas" and "improvements", I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to see any of their films, be they Venom worshiping, personal outrageous wish fulfillments or just plain stupid.
The movie had some problems (all of them had), but this has gotten way out of hand. There are people disliking Venom's middle toe and people thinking the movie should have revolved around the Tinkerer...
