The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

I'm tired of people blaming Sony for making Sam Raimi include Venom against his will. That doesn't change the fact that as the director, you still have to put forth all of your passion, knowledge and enthusiasm towards to project (if you want to project to be good). Sam didn't like Venom from the jump, so what do you expect. It's not Sony's fault that Sam and his brother came up with that lackluster script. It was as if, the Raimis had no clue what the hell to do so they essentially, grasp at straws. Personally, I fear that Sam is kind of getting burned out on Spider-Man.

It also wasn't Sony's fault that Sam got out medicore to awful performances out of Tobey Maguire, Kirstin Dunst, James Franco and Topher Grace. Also, as far as I know, it wasn't Sony's fault that all of that camp nonsense and plotholes got on screen.

I don't mean any harm, but to me Spider-Man 3 was the darkest of the series that I enjoyed. Don't get me wrong, it had a few silly moments but the first two Spider-Man movies, especially the second movie, were campier than this one (Remember in Spider-Man 2 the elevator scene and the "Raindrop keep falling off my head" sequence, among other things?).

Thank you!

Ok, I may be a sweet girl and all, :bh:but seriously, dude, you must be as crazy as your namesake if you think that there should be seducing in the movie. These movies are supposed to be for family viewing. None of that, please!
not only that but have harry create sandman?! come on now....

Wow, I never thought I would ever be defending Spider-man and Spider-man 2, against Spiderman 3 lovers. Okay first off I'd like to say that I loved SM3, and I think it's seriously underrated, but SM1 and SM2 weren't campy. Fantasic 4 was campy, the Spiderman movies have better humor, that's the right amount of corny, for Spider-man. And the "Raindrop" sequence was that way, for a reason.

lol u got a point

I personally believe that you can't really compare the Spider-man movies to one another. They are all different stories, with different feels, imo.

All three movies have their fair share of camp. What's different is that in SM3, it's obvious that Raimi is trying to be funny, whereas in SM2 (for example) the cheesiness is more subtle and, in that respect, more annoying than funny. Stuff like "GO SPIDEY GO!" or "Nothing will stand in my way...NOTHING!" are, to me, more cringe-worthy than seeing Maguire strutting down the street, thinking he's the ****.

I agree that the "Go Spidey Go" was kind of out of place, but I liked "Nothing will stand in our way...NOTHING!"

A year later and then some, and it premieres on starz tonight, and I have come to really hate this movie. As so many fans wanted to like it, including myself, it turned out to be a pathetic mockery of what came before.

I tried to like it at first and put on a happy face. I tried not to gripe, I just complained about the Peter dancing crap, but then after watching it on dvd I wanted to puke more and more, every time I watched it trying to like it I just found myself disliking Spidey 3 then hating it.

I cannot believe what Sam Raimi did to his Spider-Man series. It was going so well then, POW! this garbage. What the hell was he thinking!
You'd think after Spider-man 2 was done so well that he'd want to keep up that quality and respect for the character, instead he made a spoof of Spidey. And the one Villian every one was waiting for was reduced to nothing. Venom was almost as bad as Bane in Batman and Robin.

He was wasted. If Sam didn't know what to do with him then just leave him out!!! He said he put him in 'cause things with the Vulture fell through, Ben Kingsley couldn't play him and so on, then he said he put Eddie in after that 'cause the fans love him so much, well since you know the fans love Venom wait to give him his own movie, his story and the black suit Spider-man is too big for just one movie and as a secondary story line. There were more than enough villians in the movie.
none of the symbiote was done right. Peter's suit should have turned into his clothes not to be just under his regular clothes like his usual Spidey suit, it would have looked better and cooler and was always a nice touch, just one more advantage of the symbiote.

Then Peter started dancing around like and idiot in stupid montages and the dumb restaurant scene. I wanted to vomit when I saw that.

And Sandman was turned into a sob story wimp, and then they used him to screw up the Spidey mythos by trying a movie twist that made him Ben's killer, just stupid. that was over and done with and should have been left with the real killer being taken care of not making sandman the real killer. UGH!

The funny thing is the new cartoon spectacular Spider-man has handled the Venom saga in a wonderful way and way better than Sam's crap movie. Really surprised me how good this new show turned out.

I still cannot believe after 1 was so good and 2 was so great that this happened. Usually aftera director leaves the film series goes to hell, but the same director ruined his series in this case. What a shame. And the reporters were all bad actors then there was that stupid little girl who was annoying as hell who JJJ stupidly offered a job at the end.

We can hopefully look forward to a reboot ala The Hulk. =)

that pretty much exactly what i felt SB, i don't hate but i really thought that it would be awesome , because they did an awesome job on SM2. They brought in Venom because of $ that's the only reason why, and avi is a big reason why they brought in Venom for SM3, btw that annoying girl was Raimi's daughter:whatever: trust me i got pissed off too

As I listen to it now and know what's going to happen, I don't cringe any more, actually I don't even care about it, but when I first heard it..... Terrible.

What's terrible about Venom's treatment is that the novelization had a convincing motive for the character's actions. Considering that Venom was thrown in on the fly and you'd need at least 2 movies to really develop Eddie, they were pretty good and quite twisted. They had me feeling just a bit sorry for Eddie. Sorry that he didn't seem to know or understand how he appeared to other people like the Staceys. Yet I don't see why they were cut if Avi really wanted Venom. You'd think the producer would want a feasible motive for their villain too...

That's what I hated about Spider-Man 3. That and him strutting down the street scaring the women. How evil of him, he's a very bad boy. Its not like Sam was clueless about exploring the hero's darkside. We saw plenty of it in Spider-Man's fight with Sandman in the subway and again in the Jazz Club, first the smug way he'd look at MJ while dancing with Gwen and then when he got into the brawl that ended with MJ getting smacked to the floor.

I was disappointed with the way the made Venom, the suit and Brock both needed further development. I didn't like the Black Suit on Spidey, but I loved it on Brock. I missed the tongue and drool though.

I hated they way they made Venom look insanely weak by immediately going to find Sandman to team up with him. We didn't even get a one-on-one scene with Spidey/Venom. It just made it look like Venom couldn't even compete with Spidey.

Of course, this is the same movie that has characters disappearing for acts at a time b/c they know they have way too much going on, so they slapped together a half-assed tag team finale because they were running way too long in time.

ARE YOU CRAZY!? "GO SPIDEY GO" was fun and was the feel the audience had. Shame on them for putting in a line that was fun. :whatever:

I wasn't saying it was a crime; I just though was just a little strange, how she said it. People seem to jump on SM3 for those lines; which is equally unfair.

Plus, you know, trying to kill his best friend and trying to justify another murder (he thought) he committed.

SAM JUST DOESN'T GET IT!
