Norah Winters. Quirky, sassy, fun. This girl is awesome. I love her to bits. She's the only one of the new women in Peter's life deserving of his attention. I hope Marvel makes this happen.

What? Norah is the only one who is either not insane, violent, a villain or boring. Mary Jane's not happening any time soon it seems like. And him and Felicia is just wrong. They should be friends.

She's not insane? Half her dialogue seems representative of manic bipolar disorder. Just witness her bigoted rant against Michelle Gonzales a few months ago, during the Mary Jane arc. I wish I could remember what she said, but it wasn't pretty. She also sounds passive-aggressive towards Peter 90% of the time. Joe Kelly tries to make her stand out, by making her dialogue "hip", but instead she sounds insane and over-the-top.

I'll say this. I've been vocal in my displeasure in OMD/BND and think Pete & MJ should still be married.

Having sort of accepted the new status quo (which should have been set up by a Loki trick when paying back the favor to Spidey instead of making deals with the Devil), Norah seems to have a lot of potential and is easily the best new female character introduced in BND. This is partially because we were actually, you know, introduced to her, as opposed to being thrown the other two by saying, hey, you remember the old gang! Mary Jane, Flash, Harry, Lily, Carly. Just like old times!

If, Pete will resume the whole dating cycle, I like Norah. I like the way she kids Pete and busts on him. It seems like she is masking feelings for Pete. Kind of like a red head I know (knew?). I think they could make a good couple.

I think it's safe to say that Peter met both Lily & Carlie through Harry when he came back in that 100 day period between OMD/BND where Peter laid low due to the Civil War and made his identity revealed again...

But I will admit it took a while to get used to the new people...

Norah reminds me a smidge of the Ditko version of Gwen. I hope they keep Pete out of a relationship for at least another year, though.

With some Debra Whitman thrown in as well, I agree. And of course, Marvel's made no secret that she's going to be Peter's new girlfriend this year.

What I find funny about Norah is that, while she certainly is the best new character to come out of Brand New Day, quite a few people have been saying how her personality reminds them of Mary Jane. Which makes me wonder why not just use MJ instead?

Hmms. I get no "MJ" vibe from Norah. And I hope they keep MJ off center stage for awhile yet. If Pete falls for Carly/Norah/whomwever, and they have a Liz/Betty/Gwen/MJ type relationship going 20 years into the future, it will be interesting to read the threads of the mid-twenty-first century super hero hype: "Norah was always Pete's true love" or "Pete needs to develop as a character, make him marry Norah" or whatever. For an ageless, endless character, the debates will pretty much always be the same.

Nah. Based on the answer Steve Wacker gives in the letters page for this week's issue (#617) and this article from CBR in which he explains the teaser image, I'm getting the feeling that Peter and MJ will get back together--albeit as a non-married couple--by the end of this year and at the start of 2011.

I hope not. I never thought Pete dating a model/actress was such a good thing. MJ is ok, as it goes, but it would be interesting to see him date someone who was struggling or had a more interesting career or life, or something.

Norah is bold and comes on strong with Pete. She can be a bit flighty. She flirts in joking manner that seems to mask what she may be feeling.

Except for the whole being racist thing, I'm fine with her. I'm not saying she and Peter should hook up, but I like her as a character in the book.

Although, I guess being racist isn't enough of a reason to not date someone. I mean, Gwen had sex with Norman, and I'm pretty sure he was racist back in the day.

What story has Norman as a raging racist? I've never seen that. Indifferent to the suffering of minorities, sure. But he seems above racism and just driven by a sociopathic need to make EVERYONE around him suffer, regardless of race, creed or religion.

I'll give you that. I'm mainly taking it from an issue where Randy is complaining about unfair treatment and Norman argues with him. I don't actually remember the conversation.
