SM3 is no more contrived or cheesy than its predecessors. Maybe it's just more noticeable the third time around.
I just wanted to tell you guys how I really feel about the reception people have given this film and once again, my thoughts on the film.
When Spider-Man 3s' first picture came out, my heart jumped out of my chest for a few seconds because of how amazed and hyped I was. Then all the sset pictures nad the first ever photo of black suit Spidey. The trailer left me in shock for hours, I watched it hundreds of times. Same for when all the other trailers for the film came out. I remember people (including my self) saying this film would blow Spidey2 out of the water.
Then, when I whent to the midnight premiere at 9:15 pm and saw the film at 12:00 am I thought it was amazing and it was my favorite of the series. I come on here at 2:30 in the morning and I see someone saying "this film was horrible, thanks Sam, you ruined a great trilogy". I was shocked to hear that. Then, more and more people said it, but me and alot of other people said it was great.
What bothered and still bothers me about people dissapointed with the third one and some people saying it sucked was because they say bad things aobut the film when the director and actors and crew members work day and night on these films and try their hardest. You know how hard it must be to make sure the actors are doing and saying things the way the director wants them to? I may just be one of the few people who loved Spidey3 and thought it was the best of the series on these boards, but I am VERY proud to say that I am.
Agreed. I didn't see Spider-man 3 until a week after it premiered(I was waiting for my brother to take me). So I heard that people thought it was terrible. I was really worried, but when I saw it I thought it was amazing. There were a few questional plot changes, bu nothing that ruined the movie for me. I think SM3 definanty deserves to be with 1 and 2, to be a great trilogy.I just wanted to tell you guys how I really feel about the reception people have given this film and once again, my thoughts on the film.

What I realy hate is the people, who loved Spider-man and Spider-man 2, but when Spider-man 3 came out, they said it was horrible. And then started bashing Raimi for not knowing anything Spider-man.
....That's not what I meant. What I meant was, when people say Sam Raimi is an idiot and ruined the films, that's not necessary and not true.Ok you liked a not so great movie good for you, but to come on the boards and basically act like the people who don't like it are terrible for disrespecting the film makers is ridiculous. If people make a film that I think is bad I have every right to say the film is bad. I don't care how hard Sam, Tobey or anyone else worked on the film if I think it sucks i'm gonna say it sucks. Are you trying to say that you have never said any movie ever has sucked.

Yeah you have every right to say that you think its bad. on the right thread.
this thread is for people who like the movie. Not for those who didn't. You'd probably fit in better with your comments on the i hate spiderman 3 thread.
Actually I have the right to say it in this thread as well if I would like. I can express my opinion of the movie in any Spider-man 3 related thread I wish. There is no rule against it as long as I don't go in to an X-men thread and talk about it because that would be off topic.
Well you have to realize that comming into a thread full of people who love this movie and saying that you don't like it, is just asking to get into arguements.
It's creating dissent, which leads to an argument. Can you please take your negative sentiments elsewhere?
I would agree, but I can't, or else I'd be a hypocrite; because I go on the "I hate Spider-man 3" thread, and talk about how great it is, to me.It's creating dissent, which leads to an argument. Can you please take your negative sentiments elsewhere?

See I don't agree with that I think it creates a healthy discussion. Unless you can't handle one of those and dissenting opinions are to hard for you to handle. Either way I think the majority of people here are mature enough to have a discussion even if your not.
That's not really the point of this thread, though. The title is "I loved Spider-Man 3", not "Let's discuss the pros and cons of Spider-Man 3."
PRECISELY.
And how does making ad hominum remarks constitute a healthy discussion?

Please get a higher vocabulary. A discussion is simply a conversation between two people about a topic whether they agree on it or not. Debate are often considered a discussion even though in a debate it's two people on the opposite sides of an issue. Its not a heathly discussions if both sides have opposing views, its going to cause arguements.
A discussion would be each of us explaining what we liked about the movie. And having similar views. Which is(AGAIN) the purpose for this thread.
don't forget to add IMO....That's not what I meant. What I meant was, when people say Sam Raimi is an idiot and ruined the films, that's not necessary and not true.

discussion
an exchange of views on some topic; "we had a good discussion"; "we had a word or two about it"
Either way this is way off topic from the subject and this is actually against the rules. I will continue to stay and this thread and give my views on the movie when I feel like I want to so get on topic or let the thread get locked.

Although I love Spider-man 3, this is a very fair review. I think Venom is a higher tier Spidey villain, that deserves respect; but not the kind he gets from a lot of "casual" fans. This review proves that you don't have to be a jackass to criticize a movie. This is what I always wonder. Why so many fans turned so easily when the flaws of this film were actually very similar to the others. I think there are two reasons:
The first is I guess the story just dragged to much that people weren't caught up in the fun like they were for the other two. Especially the first one. That movie has some really questionable moments but it has energy and life to it. Sadly, Spider-man 3 didn't really have much of this. Bryce Dallas Howard and Topher Grace were really the only two actors who truly seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I've always said that Spider-man 3 was too moody to be any fun, but not dark enough to be evocative or respected. And you can tell that they tried to walk this very fine line. But the movie itself sort of had an identity crisis, which actually mirrors Peter's journey in the film somewhat. Which is why I will not cast the movie aside simply because I didn't enjoy it as much as the others. I just hope the next movie is really strong in the script department, because really Spider-man 3 still had talent, it just wasn't focussed. If you listen to the commentary, Kristen, Tobey and THC all seem kind of lost at times. Probably because they rewrote parts of the script so much.
The second reason is because of all the "new" fans/fans who were waiting to see Venom on screen. More casual fans know who Venom is and only know Venom. I remember people dissing the first movie because they thought Venom should be the villain instead of the lame Green Goblin. And then again with the second one. A lot of lower level/casual fans have simply been waiting for Venom forever. He didn't get the treatment they thought he deserved and then they bash the film. I personally wanted more Brock as well, because as I said Topher was fun to watch.
But Venom I think got all he deserved, he is a second rate villain that has been somehow built up in fans who only really know the cartoon (which he was still barely in) as being the best and biggest Spider man villain ever. Avi Arad also holds this opinion yet can't seem to articulate it well. He is kind of like Gambit in that respect. He's cool looking so he must be cool.
even though to be fair I do like Gambit.
Seriously, these are some pretty weak reasons to hate the movie. Reasons that have been explained many times, and yet people are still ignorant towards.SM2 was cheesy but Doc Ock was awesome. Easily the best thing done in the 3 movies. SM3 failed for so many reasons but top 5 are....
1- mary jane/peter romance was WAAAAAAY old and got redundant. 99% of us dont give a **** about these 2 being together.
2- Emo peter. I mean wtf. That dance scene and walking down the street like hes john travolta in saturday night fever.
3- Raimi hated the fact he was forced to put venom in the movie and gave us that POS character. He should have just robbed me of 20$ spit on my girl and kicked me in the balls i would have liked him more then spewing this trash character on screen.
4- Green Ninja Goblin who loved Xtreme skydiving with a psuedo surf board. He had a chance to fix the mistakes of GG in one but amazingly made GG1 seem like a stroke of genius design. Bravo.
5- Gwen was way to hot not to be in this movie more.
oh and unofficially aunt may sucks in every one of these movies.
