I think you're being a bit overly sensitive. And projecting a bit.

And I feel like it's a very jerkish thing to say someone should be told they don't belong because they aren't the same size as everyone else or isn't a particular attractive overweight girl.

I know I'm not a stick figure, or anything along those lines. Actually, I can recall a few times that you yourself have made fun of me because of my weight. And if you sit there and deny that, you know you'll be lying to yourself. I take it you only care about her because she's a Glee actor? Must be.

He's entitled to his opinion. There are many ways you could have handled this. You could crack a joke about the poster as a subtle revenge... or just ignore his post. Acting super defensive and indignant about it won't really get you anywhere, except make people think you take things a bit too seriously.

I'm not gonna lie. I have made a few jokes at the expense of your weight. I really have. I apologize for that.

My mother was overweight herself and people would look at her, but that doesn't mean we should be telling fat people that they don't belong or that they should change. Yes, it'd be better for their health if they did, but when someone is nice and sweet (like my mother or Ashley) it's up to them and they should be judged because they aren't some perfect image off the cover of a magazine. S'all I'm saying.

Also I know Ashley because of Glee, but that's not the reason why I'm saying what has been said about overweight people in this thread is wrong. Little known fact? Glee? Not even my favorite show.

Right because we should crucify someone once they get overweight. They no longer are a person. So clearly just because Ashley Fink is overweight she no longer has feelings and no longer should be accepted.

That's the very reason Glee exists and why Glee is popular. Not the songs. Not the acting (which I'll agree some of their covers leave alot to be desired, but their acting has never been a problem.) To send the message it's okay to be an outsider. You're on a message board for probably the nerdiest thing there is, superheroes. You've probably at somepoint felt like an outsider. Still don't see the appeal?

I do get the point of Glee, they just push her character pass the point of realism and probably fill similar fatties with false hopes. I can definitely relate to being an outsider but if she knows what is good for her she'll diet or die earlier then she should.

Did you just suggest she die? Do you not see how you're taking this too far? I can see the dieting suggestion, but if someone is confident in their body, let them be is what I say.

I'm being a bit trollish and I don't want to start anything big with anyone. I'm not saying we should line them all up and shoot them, and really I wouldn't want to promote the idea of ostracizing someone based on any physical attribute, but it is a serious health risk.
I say accept the person but maybe try to help them help themselves. Don't just embrace it and encourage the 10k calorie a day diet they must be on to maintain such a figure.

I agree. John Candy died of heart failure because his manager didn't think there would be any roles for a skinny Candy. They wanted a jolly, fat guy. Yeah, well it's not so jolly when you get diabetes, hypertension and heart disease down the line. Obese people rarely make it past their 60's.

I agree. John Candy died of heart failure because his manager didn't think there would be any roles for a skinny Candy. They wanted a jolly, fat guy. Yeah, well it's not so jolly when you get diabetes, hypertension and heart disease down the line. Obese people rarely make it past their 60's.

In that respect it is awesome that someone like her can get a role that isn't purely comedic relief yet she is twice the man John Candy was... Err, size, wtv, she'll probably die of sleep apnea before she's 40 at this rate. She's been acting since she is 4, her parents probably spoiled her do death. Well, to her death anyways.
