That Romita Sr. cover is amazing.

All John Romita's covers have an amazing quality about them! This one, the one he did that was overshadowed by the overhyped Obama appearance, the #600 variant....and ESPECIALLY the Daredevil cover he did last year....all awesome stuff!

So wait... Aunt May gets shot in 537, but gets rushed to the hospital in 540?
I didn't read the book, I'm just going by the covers here...

I can't remember entirely, but there was worry from Peter and MJ that they would get caught if they took May to the hospital, so yeah, I dont think they took her there immediately.

Aloha,
Yes, but the actual time that those issues took place was short.

That red costume still sucks. Mostly because of the gold, and the limbs.

That costume was terribly ugly, a color-blind fashion fiasco. And those extra golden limbs? And didn't it fly or glide? This will be a Spider-Armor "wtf" moment when we look back on it in 10 years.

My costume order goes like this (only counting costumes that lasted beyond a few issues)...

Original
Black
Scarlet Spider
Ben Reilly Spider-Man

....

Iron-Spider

What about Paper-Bag Spidey? Why isn't he on your list?

Aloha,
I completely agree with your order. But for me

Will always be my very close second. I mean, if Peter couldn't sew, making a black costume would have been much easier than going for something with all those lines. As a wrestler, he needed the flash of the red and blue but as a crime fighter, the black was the bomb.
The only regret I have about the Iron Spider costume is that it collected more information on the Powers of Peter Parker/Spider-Man than any other effort.Tony Stark had/has more detailed information on all of Peter's spider powers as a result of that costume. Which is why I NEVER trusted the costume. If TS can remote control the Iron Man costume, it only stood to reason that the Iron Spider costume would be-you should pardon the expression-BUGGED.
Back in Black?
I never left!

Yeah, black costume Spidey is really great, and probably the only one worthy of being worn regularly. Still, I would put Ben's Spidey costume over Scarlet Spider. I mean, that costume looked lame, it was supposed to. Ben's costume was a great alternative to the original. The only thing I didn't like was the half red half blue boots and the fact that his middle two fingers were blue and the rest were red. It seemed too intricate rather than simple.

Also, I'd put Iron Spidey over Spider-Armor:up:
