Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread

It'll probably be his full costume for season 1 at least if I had to guess.

Reminds me of the Batman Begins ski-mask outfit:

There isn't even going to be a traditional "Season 2".
It's going:
Daredevil
Jessica Jones
Luke Cage
Iron Fist
The Defenders

And it looks like there might be about 6 months between all of them (Cox was cast in May, nothing on JJ yet). That'd put The Defenders in 2017.

There's no way they'd leave the "final suit" that long.

So even if it is a big success, they are gonna wait 2+ years for a follow up?

I'm fine with this. I could really get behind the idea of using television to do maxi-series type shows. You tell the story you want to tell, and then move on to a new show. If a character warrants a second season, come back to them at some point, or use them in a movie. One of the things I don't like about tv shows is when you can tell that they are just continuing the story because the network is giving them more money, so they are finding a way to keep going.

That happens after 3 seasons or so. How often do you see that after one season of a good show?

Though apparently this is all leading to the Defenders, so I could understand that. But really, if Daredevil rocks, I will want more. Same with all the shows.

On tv? Not so often. But there's a reason why comics have mini and maxi-series (aside from not being sure about sales). It's that sometimes you have a story worth telling, but after that, there's no good reason to keep the character in the spotlight besides money.

Do you have any specific quotes, clips or evidence that they used the word ''prototype'' in a scene?

Because nowhere in any interviews or feedback from the event did I hear this.
The raging fanboys on Twitter are not getting a response from DeKnight (who is vocal) or anyone else over threats of cancelling Netflix subs.

Already pointed out, but dialogue in the scene says "It's a work in progress".

Seriously, I feel like some people just WANT to be outraged. Like, they're looking for something to dislike, and as soon as they spot something, they just attack without thinking.

It sounds like a worse idea to force another season when they've already got a very specifc plan.

We already wait 2+ years between movies and they're just about 2 hours, waiting that long for 13 hours of goodness doesn't seem so bad especially when we will have 3 other shows while we are waiting, plus a mini including Daredevil after.

It's the same city, we could still see Daredevil in the others shows before The Defenders.

They've said the plan is to treat it like a 13 hour movie. No one has said "even if Iron Man is a success, are they really going to wait 2+ years for a sequel?" There are certainly downsides. I'm not convinced they'll have a second season and the risk of missing out on certain characters is high. On the other hand, variety is the spice of life. We're getting four different shows, which I think makes up for it. Even though I'm a huge Daredevil fan and know very little about the rest, this is a good opportunity to see the rest. Plus, I think The Defenders is going to be epic.

Two years isn't too bad though. We'll probably get Jessica Jones next year as well, and Iron Fist will probably be early 2016, so Defenders could air in that same year too, leaving Daredevil s2 for 2017.

It's not like he's going to just start calling himself Daredevil is it? Once the stories of a vigilante begin to spread he'll be given the name, that'll be when he decides to truly adopt the persona of Daredevil. That's when he'll dress the part.

I'm glad most people in this thread understand that it's (much more than likely) a prototype.

i'm not sure if a second season is going to happen. it looks like daredevil will start off the netflix adventure and then jessica jones, luke cage, etc will follow. then the next thing will be the defenders meet up. so i don't see a season 2 of any of those shows before the defenders team up.

Marvel's official website:
"Along with the first image of Cox as Murdock, you can also check out a photo featuring Matt in his first costume, inspired by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr.'s seminal DAREDEVIL: MAN WITHOUT FEAR series"

I just don't get the problem with running the shows closer together. Why have DD, wait 6 months, then JJ,wait 6 months, etc. After DD,they should have to wait no longer that a couple months before getting the next series on.(since the whole series can be viewed in potentially a day)

^ Because it costs money to make these shows. That's why they can't film them closer. They've gotta make more money before they film more.

Don't forget Luke Cage when counting.

We know that Netflix paid a hefty price for the four 13 episode series and the 8 episode miniseries. It's not known at this time if Netflix has the rights to additional seasons.

Marvel may open up the bidding to other networks and services or even focus on movies. I have said many times in the Spidey threads that a "Spider-Man and the Defenders" series could be big for Sony and Marvel.

Same reason Marvel can only do 2 films a year: they only have a certain amount of resources and can only handle a certain amount of projects at one time.

They aren't "waiting" around doing nothing for months in between, these things take time to make, especially if they're being treated more like 13 hour films than a typical television show.

Based on Cox getting cast at the end of May and the series beginning filming in July and finishing in December (according to D'Onofrio), with a May release, I think they'll announce JJ's actress November/December, film January to May/June and then release it in November/December 2015.

So basically two shows per year, with Iron Fist in May 2016, Luke Cage late '16, and then Defenders May 2017.

I'm going into these Netflix series with the mindset that they're like True Detective, or American Horror Story. Each "season" is a complete shift from the last. So, one season is Daredevil, one season is Luke Cage, etc, etc. Except these will have connecting threads leading to Defenders. I'm just going to look at it as one big series, which helps me get past the fact there's only one season per character until the big team up.

Do people think Night Nurse might make DD's costume? In the clip she apparently already tells him his prototype sucks. Maybe he tries the yellow one and she still doesn't approve, and then she feels compelled to offer him some fashion advice so he doesn't look ridiculous.

I don't really see anyone else having costume input at this stage and don't know that Murdock would have the skills or fashion sense to put together something as sophisticated as the classic red costume.

Are we really at a point where having two Marvel Netflix series in a year, in addition to 2-3 Marvel movies and now two Marvel network TV series, feels like it's not enough and we should be getting more!?

Sorry if this has been answered already but is the idea for Daredevil to have this proto-costume for most of the season only to upgrade to the crimson one near the end or will the upgrade happen early on?
