Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread

I really want him to be in something where he can be extremely flexible and acrobatic. He needs to be able to move nearly as nimbly as Spidey so what he wears needs look like it allows for this. He's the man without fear so i dont want the protective armor or pads to be overdone.

I'm going to go further. I want the costume to be made of a material where the stunt double can actually be flexible and acrobatic. Unlike the Spider-Man movies, I think they're going to need to do some practical stunts. Make it something that can breathe. Padding, etc. are less important. I don't care if it's spandex or a looser material, it's got to be a material that can bend (hell, my biggest complaint with the new Flash costume, which I like a lot, is that it doesn't look like the fabric can breathe at all, which is a problem for someone running extremely fast).

As for yellow vs. red, I haven't read Daredevil: Yellow yet, so I don't have a full picture. However, my inclination says "skip it." If he has an improvised costume at first, I wouldn't mind making that costume yellow, but I think the red clearly looks better. Although I suppose a blind guy wouldn't necessarily know.

I think DD should have a mish mash of colours and styles to show that he's blind and couldn't tell what on earth he was putting together. He could have two different coloured gloves or boots, for example, and stripey pants. It should be different each time. :hehe:

They just need to use an Under Armor type material but find some way to add some textures and differences here and there to make it visually appealing. It's an incredibly simplistic costume, and honestly, I think that's part of what makes it so hard to translate. It can be very easy to make it look like a grown ass man wearing a onesie with some crappy costume shop devil horns.

I haven't read that either, is that sort of an origin comic for DD's yellow costume? See my costume question in the casting thread.

Would be very pleased with something like this. Also I prefer red to a muted maroon. Embrace the character.

I would have the gloves / Boots / straps / emblem and cowl be a more leather-y material very bright red. The suit itself would be something more akin Man of Steel's fabric mesh. Have the bodysuit be ever so slightly darker red.

my 2 cents.

jeez....that's quite the unnecessary bulge he's got there.

God i hope this suit is up to the standards of the movies....

It has sooooo much potential

Something like this would be amazing! We can only hope for something this awesome!

Here's my suit concept. I've been working on this for quite a while. Hope you guys like it!

To me, it's a bit overdesigned. Part of the reason is I'm not a fan of suits being body armor. Yes, it makes sense from the real world perspective of bullets and shrapnel being bad, but Daredevil gets by through not getting hit. Most importantly, the suit has to be flexible. He has to be realistically athletic. Since I'm an advocate of practical stuntwork, a suit like that (which looks like a movie Batman suit) is less than ideal.

I don't want the suit to be overdesigned, unless someone else has made it for DD. Since he is blind, why would he care how it looks? He can't exactly stand back and admire his handiwork. I want him to put together a mish-mash of colours and styles first, until someone else decides to help him out a bit. But that would involve another person knowing his secret identity and being his helper. Who would that be? Karen Page?

None of it is intended to be armor. It's all supposed to be fabric, minus the emblem and gauntlets.

Sorry but this idea is very unlikely to happen. A) it would turn the character into a joke, B) where is the "cool" factor? C) Melvin Potter actually makes the suits for Matt in the funny books.

Fair enough. I don't really like the mesh, which is what made me think the rest wasn't fabric.

I would love to see Melvin Potter eventually do costume work for him because it would show that he's turned his life around (although it would give the false impression that people found not guilty by reason of insanity actually get out of jail within a reasonable period of time, but that's a different issue). But he's gotta start as a bad guy and all that first. And I don't want yellow Daredevil for half a season, so I'm not suggesting he make the red costume either.

That's awesome. Really like the mesh at the sides. My only nitpicks are the horns seem a bit close together and the gauntlets could be slimmed down a bit.
