Can they loose the overdone tattoos?
Those damaged his looks too much.

I was ready to jump off a cliff with the "I've got some grape soda on ice and a bearskin rug waiting" line.
I think the point is that Heath Lesser's Joker was so unlikable that the only reason people would like to see him come back is for Batfleck to beat his face in (again)
If they elect to not completely scrap Leto's abomination, I would not mind Batfleck beating The Juggaloker to death
Not like it would be the first person he's killed, no big deal to me. In fact he'd be doing a great service for us all.
Ceasar... Jack... Heath... hell, not even Mark Hamill, with all their Joker magic pulled together could have made that line work - or sound any less cringey.
Jared got booted with the WORST Joker lines, so thanks for that, Ayer.

What, like a flashback sequence like we got in Under the Red Hood? That could possibly work...it'd be a way to work the Joker in a flashback and possibly give him a classic look. Though if it was in the past, we'd still know where his look ended up in Suicide Squad.

Yeah that inconsistency can't be ignored. SS could've accomplished so much in building up the history of the DCEU. It was a misfire and we just have to get past it. At least we can take comfort in knowing that Ayer isn't going to do another DC movie.. Right?![]()
That goes for the entire cast. Let's not forget Ayer directed Viola Davis to describe Harley Quinn as being 'crazier and more fearless" than the Joker. Right before freaking out because she's afraid of water 'cause she "can't swim" (even though New 52 Harley is seen swimming regularly). Oh and let's not forget Enchantress (a 6000 year old individual) saying "you don't have the balls" to Flagg.
The message is clear: don't ever let David Ayer near another comic book movie.
Definitely a contributing factor. However Leto's performance will still forgettable.
The only part I thought he played brilliantly were the Asylum scenes, particularly the part where he asked Harley for a machine gun, and that was it. That felt very Joker-like. The rest of his performance was inconsistent. It's like others have said, he played a guy who didn't know how to be crazy, rather than playing someone genuinely insane.
I refuse to believe that Leto can't be salvaged in the role, however. His delivery of lines - especially, "He's so inTENSE!" - made me hear Jim Carrey, and that really, REALLY shouldn't of happened. But I do think he can be saved.
And it was a forgettable performance... mostly because we want to repress it from our memories![]()
I can't even picture Affleck's Batman taking on this Joker. Doesn't even seem right.
