I gotta admit, I do kinda like that shot. But probably just cause he reminds me of Papa Emeritus from Ghost there lol

Still think the music video "gets" the Joker more than Ayer.

The Arkham scene, the sequence with Harley chasing down Joker, the helicopter scene, etc. :cwink:

I loved the helicopter scene. If we had more of that I think the reception would have been better.

The Arkham is so chopped to hell that sometimes I love it and sometimes I dislike it.

Don't insult Papa.
Oh , I wouldn't dream of it. Just something about his facial expressions/makeup came off like he was trying to emulate Papa or something. Still pretty cringey , though.

Jared Leto truly went from the pinnacle to the pit.
IT IS A LOOOOONG WAAAAAY DOOOOWN....

They put on a fantastic live show.

Indeed. It was perfectly Joker from him hijacking the 'copter to opening fire while hysterically laughing.

The Extended Cut of the Arkham scene is far better than the T-Cut, but I can agree you can tell there's still things missing from it (like the Joker putting on his purple coat, waving his finger at Jonny Frost, etc.).

That's the only time his laughing worked, in the helicopter shooting everything in sight.

He provides that same laugh during the "Chemical Wedding" scene as well.

The Joker's laugh is one place Leto's Joker excelled. That sort of sick, pained mania. Disturbing stuff.

His laugh sounded like a dying donkey!

I actually wanna try a little experiment with that scene by switching out the music

If you post, be sure to share the link. I'll check it out, most def.

I really like the slow building laugh. It works because it's so damn creepy. Definitely stands out.

The laugh needs some work. It's not that the laugh was bad but he needs more diversity instead of doing the same laugh every time. Nicholson, Ledger and Hamill all have superior laughs/voices in general. Leto Joker can be salvaged he needs to just take more inspiration from past incarnations

The monotone uniformity is the whole DNA of his laugh, there's very little I would personally want changed in that respect. Between the drawn out "ha..ha...haaaahhh" (as seen in the nightclub) and the "ho-ho-he-haha" Romero-esque delivery (in the helicopter), there's enough range between the two to tweak appropriately for each scene.

I actually give kudos for Leto coming up with a laugh wholly unique to his. Before this performance, I didn't think it was possible to come up with a new Joker laugh which hasn't already been heard before.

I hated his laugh. The laugh in Mr. Nobody was soooo much better, as many have said .

I've always thought the same thing. Leading up to SS, I was constantly wondering what he'd come up with for the laugh, and I was delighted to find out that he actually came up with something distinct. As much as I love the first laugh he created, it may need some tweaking but the second laugh he cultivated is absolutely perfect for the Joker.

All in all, I hope he keeps both moving forward because, imo, they both perfectly fit the Joker.

Also, after having revisited SS again tonight, I really love his interaction with Griggs and I wish WB would've included the full version on the Extended Cut. Everything about it is perfectly Jokerized from the introduction to the "you're gonna be my friend" and "I can't wait to show you my toys" lines.

Leto may not have had the strongest material to work with here, but I still feel he made the best of it and doesn't deserve the hate he's getting.

The only time when his laugh felt natural was the helicopter scene. It was actually pretty embarrassing when he laughed in the Harleen motorcycle scene. Completely out of place and unnatural.

Really? I thought it was right in line considering he was mocking Harleen the whole time.

I know what the intention was, but the way it fit into the scene was extremely awkward. The movie is full of moments like that.

True, I can't argue with that sentiment. Hopefully with GSC Ayer will try less for "hey, look how cool these characters are!" moments and will actually try to delve deeper. It's pretty obvious he's going to use the Joker in it, I just hope he gives Leto something more substantial to do.

The drawn-out "Ha, ha, ha" laugh is good for building tension. That's why it worked so well in the first Comic Con footage, because it was used as part of the Joker's reveal. But it sounds awkward when forced into casual conversation.

Wildcard, I don't see what's so obvious about Ayer putting Joker in GCS. There's zero evidence of it, as of right now. Not to mention Leto himself is quite busy with a few projects lined up.
