The Jared Leto is The Joker(?) Thread

SEXRET.

Professional concept art for a multi-million-dollar Hollywood production depicts a character with the word "SEXRET" tattooed onto her stomach.

I can't get over it.

It's like someone just blatantly told them "okay, I want you to make the absolute WORST concept art you can think of."

But a purple suit for The Joker would have been too much.

I swear. So many aspects of that film scream "**** everything."

i regret many things in this life

but seeing those concepts takes the cake

and the cake has "Damaged" written on it

Now I can agree with that as well. When she said that I had to roll my eyes because there's no way a purple suit is ever "too much" for the Joker.

The tuxedo at the end could've very easily been purple and it would've been perfect.

I feel like they need to kick things up a few notches when it comes to the classic Joker look and delivery. More purple, more laughing (not just the old man laugh or purring), a bit more "clown" and less fashion freak. I understand the need to try something different, but when you combine all of the experiments, it's too much. The tattoos, the club, the grillz, no permanent smile, the chains, barely any purple, and so far he's more obsessed with Harley than Batman.

I like his performance in some scenes for sure but even when he's doing fine, not making a fool of himself, it's brought down by the design. And i blame Leto too because he was really into it.

There's not going to be recast. They're not going to drop the tattoo's and the grillz because THEY are happy with it and for the sake of continuity. But they can change some things here and there.

As for the concept art, i can't believe how HIDEOUS it is. It's the worst.

I think the tattoos could be sold better if Ayer wasn't intent on showing them off every single time he's on-screen.

Since it's apparent they'll keep Leto and the design going forward, I say take away the Scarface influence with the half open shirts & have him in purple. Don't get any designers like that foolish woman who claimed it would be "too much".

The tattoos work better if they're seen passively rather than them (Ayer) going out of their (Ayer's) way to make sure the audience see them.

Which is why I'm ok if they never want to use the character in this universe ever again

That's how much I loathe this interpretation

Taking this kind of experiment on a character, when it's not a one-off story, but a universe, is a MASSIVE mistake. It's OK if it works, but if it doesn't (and it happens more often than not) - it's a catastrophe. Now future directors have to deal with this tatsridden gangbanger Joker and Harley, to some extent. So either they break the continuity or they have to figure out how to make them work, which is impossible, IMO.

Tats aren't going anywhere but i'm positive he'll be wearing purple and won't be dressed like Tony Montana in future films. If he's in future films that is

Got a hunch i guess

Whole look screams Ayer. If you're familiar with his previous work, dudes is obsessed with Hispanic drug cartels lol

^ You can kind of tell looking at half the cast of SS. Seems like 80% of those involved had some form of tattoos.

Ayer/Leto made me appreciate Burton/Nicholson and Nolan/Ledger even more. Like I didn't appreciate them enough already... Turns out it's not hard to screw it up. After "hunka-hunka" this looks absolutely incredible:

I was ready to jump off a cliff with the "I've got some grape soda on ice and a bearskin rug waiting" line.

Jared Leto is an amazing actor and his Jorker is so cool but i don't like the plot of Suicide Squad cause it's a little... "childish"

I'd be fine with this Joker if it turned out he was in fact a pretender who was obsessed with the genuine article. Like Jason Todd adopted this Joker persona and this is not the real deal.

Suicide Squad is a film that openly courts The Joker as a possible juggalo.

That'd be the lamest cop out ever, imo. And as I've stated before, a waste of Jason Todd's character and an opportunity to at least attempt to competently build on this Joker.

Faygo is actually really good, though. Not gonna lie.

( There is, uuum... Quite an abundance of juggalos in the town I live near.... Infact, they probably make up about half the population.... :o )

I can't even picture Affleck's Batman taking on this Joker. Doesn't even seem right.

I don't see how that's possible.
