The Jetsons 2012???

It did good at the box office but the critics hated it . I liked it , aside from Rosie O Donnel. Also the sequel was a disaster and none of the originals came back .

I agree. I liked The Flintstones (sans O'Donnel-- even before she was a whale she was wretched looking and sounding), even though it got bad reviews. It was one of those movie where when it came out everyone had to go see it. Overall I thought it was faithful to the cartoon, although it was also a surprisingly dark deconstruction of Fred's character, which is something I don't think people were expecting from a Flintstones movie. I never saw the sequel, because even people who liked the first one are in pretty much unanimous in saying it blows chunks (I mean come on, it had that freaking Gazoo guy in it!).

I'm pretty sure that Universal was going to make a Jetsons movie starring Phil Hartman riding on the success of The Flintstones, but after his unfortunate death it fell apart. If Hartman was still alive, we probably would have had a Jetsons movie a long time ago.

It wasn't as good as the first, but I kind of liked the prequel. I remember seeing both in theatres,

The animated Jetsons movie was good too.

Gazoo was like the Scrappy Doo of the Flintstones.

I never bothered with the sequel either . I liked Goodman too much as Fred and felt it wouldn't of been as entertaining. I think people definately rushed to the first one because it was The Flintstones which at that point seemed like a big deal. I wonder if people would flock to a Jetsons movie nowadays.

A Jetsons movie with Hartman would of been good . At least today the technology would be better but hopefully they find the right cast.

Hayden Panettiere should be Judy she looks just like her
How so?

Was that a rumor at the time? I remember hearing the rumor that William H. Macy was going to play George.

All the rumors I heard back then were about Phil Hartman, with Danny DeVito as Mr. Spacely. DeVito as Spacely is the one rumor that always seems to stay the same, and I think it's because everyone knows he's perfect for the role. I'd be pretty shocked if the movie actually got made and they didn't cast him.

O Donnell hating is so lame. The whole ''I hate her cause she's a loud fat lesbian woman who voices her opinion."

She got the role of Betty cause while she wasn't the perfect Betty figure, she nailed the voice and character. Much better than whoever we got in the sequel/prequel.

It had nothing to do with her having "nailed the voice and character". Rosie got the role because she had the laugh down pat, she's even admitted to that being the reason why she was cast.

I vaguely remember the prequel but I do remember thinking Jane Krakowski played Betty a lot better than O'Donnell did.

I still am supporting the earlier internet appeals for House M.D. to play George Jetson. He has the look down pat, mostly from his stint in Stuart Little. The only thing is he's a little older now. And Diane Lane is Jane. MILF of the future.

Jane was fine, but people only say she was better than Rosie cause she wasn't fat.

Rosie was spot-on as Betty, character, voice and yes, laugh wise.

I remember this being talked about back in 2004, with Steve Martin as George and Lindsay Lohan as Judy.

UGh that woulda sucked. I remember that Jim Carrey was rumored as george Jetson as well.

how can you say that when the film isnt even in production yet, let alone know if their is a script ready to go, and no one has officially been signed on.

I just have a feeling. How did that Flinstones movie fare at the box office? Terrible.

Actually, if we follow the trend of first movie of an extremely popular cartoon turned into live-action.. it should do really well (commercially, at least).

The Flintstones was a blockbuster. Scooby-Doo was a blockbuster. Alvin and the Chipmunks was a blockbuster.

I think if it follows in it's predecesors, as mentioned^ I think it'd a hit, especially if the rumors are true and Carell and Aniston are attached to star

well those are just plan rumors for all we know. As i said we dont even know how far along the project may or may not be.

"The Jetsons is currently in production. Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Pictures, and Troublemaker Studios will release the film, slated for 2012. It will star Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston, Hillary Duff, Josh Hutcherson, and Danny DeVito."-Wikipedia

I know it's not the most reliable source, but has anyone heard anything about this...

If this is true the cast sounds great... all except Hillary Duff and Josh Hucherson...

I think Sara Paxton would be a better Judy (typical rebellious, boy crazy teen) and Josh Hutcherson (a brilliant young actor) is much too old for a 7 year old Elroy, I know they're not going to cast an actual 7 year old, but JH is like 17... maybe Zane Huett or Jonah Bobo

If this film ever does get into production and these are true. Hmm I don't know how I feel about Steve Carell being George Jetson, sure he's comical and all I just can't picture him or Jim Carry as the part. Why Hillary Duff? Horrible, I can't see her as Judy Jetson at all, not only that but she's not a teenager any more. I mean I guess I've seen adults play teens before but not the bets way to go. I could so see Danny DeVito as Mr.Spacley, he'd be perfect for him. Jennifer Anisten as Jane Jetson I don't know. Maybe its cuz I know the show so well and the characters that I just can't picture it. Maybe if I saw this, I don't know :csad:

I always wanted Damian Lewis as George...i mean look at him for godssake!! he has acting talent and he looks like george, what else to you want?

Well looks like we will probably be back in developmental hell for awhile for THE JETSONS:

Rodriguez Jets Away From the Jetsons

While director Robert Rodriguez busy himselfs with post-production on Machete and getting things geared up for the Predator remake, there's one film he won't have to be concerned with anymore: The Jetsons movie. If Warner Bros. has their way, Peter Segal (Get Smart) will have that honor. The live-action film -- think The Flintstones movie only with less hot Halle Berry -- has been floundering in development, with Rodriguez's name attached to direct, for quite some time despite having a script.
According to the folks over at Pajiba, "That’s partly because no talent wanted to sign on, including Jim Carrey, who passed on the role of George Jetson."
Wait, they couldn't get Jim Carrey to sign on? Jim Carrey, who doesn't exactly exercise sound discretion when choosing his projects? Mr. Jim "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" Carrey? If that's the case, then this script is likely worse than the usual remake/haphazard adaptation that we see pushed out by studios. Luckily, word is that Warner Bros. will hire writers to work on new script once they have secured a director to replace Rodriguez. But there's no word yet on whether or not Segal is indeed interested in being that director.
