The Jetsons 2012???

At least they got the perfect casting for Mr. Spacely with DeVito if this is indeed true. I don't like Carrell as Mr. Jetson at all, bad choice.

Yeah, I think Tim Allen would be the better choice for Mr. Jetson.

^never thought of Tim, good call

tho I've always personally pictured Alan Tudyk

Ed Helms basically IS Jetson. He's pretty much played a version of the character in every other role.

Aww, I wanted to see a live action Devito be Spacely. :p He was a great Penguin.

No offense to anyone who does but I could give 2 ****s about the Jetsons

But an animated Scooby Doo movie is getting fast tracked? Best news I heard all day

They just could not get that live action one off the ground. I guess CG is more cost effective, but I would've liked to see what might have been.

I'm interested to see how this plays out, but I was really excites for a live action film.

Now I'm not interested in this anymore. It needed to be live action. I don't want another silly cartoon.

Well, it started as a cartoon so keeping it as a cartoon seems the way to go. How many good cartoon turned live-action movies have their been?

Aww, I wanted to see a live action Devito be Spacely. :p He was a great Penguin.

He should still voice Spacely!

I'm telling ya, He-Man and The Jetsons are the two titles that I'm shocked Hollywood hasn't been made/re-made yet. It's kinda weird.

We all loved Dolph in the last one but they're afraid of trying to match the quality of his version and don't want to disappoint the world by releasing an inferior version.

He-man needs a reboot. I think animated is the best way to go with the Jetsons. The last time I cared about the Jetsons was when they did a crossover with the Flintstones.

I just have to say yesterday when I saw this thread was the first time I had heard any thing about a jetsons movie maybe being made and we are now in 2015 not 2012 lol.

There's tons of movie that get 'confirmed' to be produced but fail for any number of reasons.

This has been in development hell since I started using the internet.

This has been in development hell since before "development hell" started being a term for people to use.

Thought this was kinda cool. I wish it matched the music better though...

'The Jetsons' Movie Nabs 'Sausage Party' Director (Exclusive)
Borys Kit said:
The future of The Jetsons just got a little meatier.

Conrad Vernon, who co-directed the Seth Rogen animated movie Sausage Party, has come aboard to develop with an eye to direct The Jetsons, Warner's Animation Group’s big-screen take on the classic Hanna-Barbera television series.

Warner Bros. has long sought to adapt the movie for the silver screen and since the late 1990s has focused on a live-action version, propelled by the success of the live-action version of another classic Hanna-Barbera title, The Flintstones.

The new development firmly keeps the property on the animation track.

While it didn’t last as long on the air as Flintstones, the show tapped into the Space Age wonder of the early 1960s and made a deep mark in pop culture as a Saturday morning cartoon staple and in syndication for decades.

The show focused on the misadventures of a family named the Jetsons, led by father George Jetson. Also in the pack were housewife Jane Jetson, teenager Judy Jetson, and tyke Elroy Jetson. Also in the orbit were Rosie the household robot and Astro, the family dog.

Paramount tried to mount a live-action version as did Universal. Warners has had the rights since at least the late 1990s and has developed versions that attracted directors such as Adam Shankman, Robert Rodriguez (the latter had a script by The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg).

Vernon is a DreamWorks Animation vet who co-directed Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. (Fun fact: he voiced the Gingerbread Man in the Shrek movies.)

He directed 2016's Sausage Party with Greg Tiernan. The raunchy movie received strong reviews and grossed almost $100 million domestically on a budget of only $19 million.
'The Jetsons' Turn Fifty
The beloved Space Age sitcom, which debuted on Sept. 23, 1962, only lasted one season but continues to influence the vision of the future.

Warner Bros Plots ‘The Jetsons’ Animated Feature; Matt Lieberman Writing
Mike Fleming Jr said:
EXCLUSIVE: Warners Bros is looking to turn the Hanna-Barbera series The Jetsons into an animated theatrical feature. The studio has hired Matt Lieberman to write the script. There was a flurry of rumors sometime back about a live-action version that might somehow involve Kanye West. Not sure what happened there, but I’m told that Lieberman is working from scratch on a fully animated version.

Warner Bros owns that library, which was acquired by Ted Turner before he sold his company to Warner Bros. Lieberman got the job after his script work on the animated Scooby-Doo movie for Warner Bros and Atlas that the studio has put on a fast track.

The Jetsons is based on the Hanna Barbera cartoon series that originated in 1962 and was that production company’s space-age answer to the stone-age The Flintstones.

Lieberman, who started in the Disney Writers Program, has set scripts all over town including the spec 12/24 with 1492 based on a David Guggenheim idea that amounts to a found-footage Santa Claus film. He also scripted Giant Monsters Attack Japan for Paramount Animation, and Short Circuit which Tim Hill will direct. His spec The Pet sold to Disney with Jared Hess attached to direct, and he scripted Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride for Peter Candeland to direct and Evil Genius for Disney.

Lieberman is repped by WME, Madhouse Entertainment and attorney Melissa Rogal.

Well, that's interesting.

Would have really liked to see this go the live action route. C'est la vie.

10-15 years ago, Jim Carrey would have been a great George Jetson and Jennifer Aniston as Jane

Also, Danny Devito as Mr. Spacely is just perfect casting!

Kinda sucks we never got a live action Jetsons movie
