Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

My problem with Drew McWeeny has always been that he frequently behaves like the basement dwelling man-children he claims to hate.

This is a two-hander.

On one hand, Zazie Beetz said the script was almost completely rewritten on set (her words), so whatever draft is circulating online is out of date.

On the other hand, the script being completely rewritten on set isn't exactly a comforting sign.

So maybe the best course of action would be to wait until the movie actually comes out and see what the final product is like. Crazy notion.

Not gonna comment on a supposed quality of the movie but just some of the convo surrounding it.

So there's this idea that a movie is responsible for how a viewer would interpret its message and act on it. The thing about having a morally abhorrent character being the lead makes people think that the movie is justifying or glorifying their action regardless of what they're doing. That's what I've seen about this movie how it shouldn't come out because its justifying a certain type of people. The thing is this happens with literally any movie with a villain with a understandable point. Heck these "edge lords" worshiped Ledger's Joker YET he was the villain! Or heck Thanos! Morally bankrupt villains will always attract the morally bankrupt this isn't anything new. A movie isn't responsible for their stupidity.

Just because a movie is telling you WHY someone would do this, isn't the same thing as justifying them. If you need the movie to tell its bad thing that a psychopath killing innocent people is a bad thing, you might want to re-evaluate your priorities.

lol, that's not a "plot summary", that the entire movie spoiled beat for beat. :hehe:

It sounds like it’ll be good. Not sure about the ending, but whatever, it probably won’t get a sequel.

Well a similar process was done with the first Iron Man and if you recall that movie wasn't half-bad.

If true then... would that mean
Shea Whigham is Gordon? because that's awesome.

If true, I like the sound of that!

In his follow-up tweet McWeeny said that this movie will appeal to the people who think that Tyler Durden was the hero of Fight Club (I can't post the tweet itself because of cursing).

Well, that's just about as awful a bit of news as they could release. And to think I was mostly worried that too many movie-goers would incorrectly look upon the Joker as a hero.

Film Twitter (a mostly horrid bunch) will certainly have a field day with the final scene.
