I think there were a lot of factors that went into enticing WB to commit to an R. The talent involved swayed them into giving an ok for a side project they otherwise would've said no to. The low budget and name recognition they knew could be quite profitable and the Batman IP was at arms length away from this.

I wish this the film the best and even though perhaps it seems a bit stagey for my taste but it's something unique so I look forward to seeing it. The new trailer I thought was way better than the first.

Aye there's a clear case of people chomping at the bit on social media for this film to cause a meltdown amongst the fan base. For example I seen one tweet from some idiot from BMD basically saying the fan base will prove to be demented regardless of the reaction at Venice be it positive or negative.

In retrospect, I'm actually SO glad we didn't get Alec Baldwin as Thomas Wayne in this movie.

Yeah but his problems is with the fans not the movies. He doesnt like the films (he isnt really a fan of most summer blockbuster style films) and said so with a bit of snark and the CBM fans couldnt handle it and threw a fit. They continue to. They just cant handle a comedian taking a shot at them.

He has talked about it many times. Sorry but if you dont want to be called a child dont act like a child. Everytime they flame him for his opinion it only makes them look exactly like he says they are. I like cbms and love Marc Maron, I hardly took offense to what he said because his opinion isnt exactly that outlandish.

It hasn't effected my enjoyment of the run up at all. I've loved it and Phoenix playing Joker is a dream for me.

I just happened to come across that tweet because I was checking to see if there was any reaction yet. What I found was that clown instead. It appears that site has the same agenda regardless of who's running it.
