Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

@The Joker Pay attention to the roots, though that could just be the lighting making it appear green-ish.

Either way, I don't think this is his final look. This lines up with that set video, so it's probably him working as a clown first.

Take away the perhaps unnecessary make up around the eyes and it looks pretty old school to me. I'm actually taken aback by their approach.... I'm delighted! Definitely not Pennywise anyway which was quite clearly a demon in make up.

Ehhh no. Pennywise is his regular form looked like a clown;

Here's your demonic Pennywise;

I'm finding that I'm having an easier time thinking of this movie as a movie about the origins of a serial killer clown and not a movie about Batman's Joker.

Yeah, he’s not nearly as gaunt in that clip as he is now. I’m praying it’s not the final look. There’s definitely potential there, just a few more evolutions to get it right.

I can't see it. Looks dark brown.

Like Ledger in most of his scenes. :p

They will crossover with It.

I just don't like the red nose, but whatever. I'll wait to see if it's the final form or not.

Pennywise in his regular form looked like a demon trying to play at appearing regular and I'm pretty sure that's the angle they were going for. .. But that's just me. :) Even Georgie knew there wasn't something quite right with the ****er initially.

He looks more like a scary Ronald McDonald.

McJoker

I'm just glad they're putting more emphasis on the "clown" aspect of the character. That's an aspect that's sort of been ignored lately, I feel.

Now I'm eager for a trailer, but that's sooooo far away haha

Hmm. It’s not exactly what I’d do if I were making this film, but I appreciate them doing something different. I’d be fine if that ended up being his final look.

Is anyone really THAT surprised he's not perma-white? This sounds like it's meant to be a realistic take so again, I don't expect him to even be in full make-up until the last half hour if even that.

This isn't a Supervillain as much as a character study so there's no reason to expect him to be the Joker we know for a majority of this movie.

Looking back at all the live-action Joker's, one of the reasons I feel like Leto didn’t capture audiences was how joyless the performance was. People always refer to Ledger’s as being the darkest and most violent of them all, and they’re not wrong. But Nolan and Heath were smart to keep the character’s humor in-tact. He had fun, and as an audience we had fun watching him (even if at times, uncomfortably). This was non-existent with Leto’s iteration.

I think it’s still too early to call either way. None of us know just how much of the canon Todd is willing to deviate from. To this date Ledger’s is still the only major interpretation to not have the bleached skin. It’s an outlier rather than the standard, in spite of the iconic performance.

I don't mind whether he's permawhite or not. As long as it fits into the story is all that matters.

it worked absolutely to perfection for The Dark knight.

I dont think joyless is the right word for Leto's Joker. He did play for laughs but up to the umpteenth level. His mood swings were huge but it played far more campy than anything. Ledgers and Nicolson's Joker had more consistency with their personality making them easier to latch onto.

Well, for people who were hoping for a return of Cesar Romero's Joker look, you're in luck!

He looks ****ing awful. I hope that's not the final look but if it is... I'm not going to waste my time on this.
