Joker "The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached? - Part 2

I see it is at 69%. Surprised it is that low. I may see it tomorrow night, but it depends. If I don't, then have to wait until likely mid week or possibly next weekend

I get the impression from a lot of the negative reviews that this film really isn’t all that radical or different after all. This would be disappointing. It’s supposed freshness and daring are it’s main selling points.

Ah well, find out tomorrow!

Double Toasted's review is up on youtube.

It’s not.

Anyway, back up to 70 and fresh at the time of posting this.

In before this post immediately becomes outdated.

Weeks of complaining that the movie wasn't certified yet, and when it finally does get certified it loses it in a couple of days.

:lmao:
Its the type of cruelly ironic joke that the Joker would totally get a kick out of.

I can't wait for the "Rotten Tomatoes doesn't matter anymore!" takes after endlessly posting about it.

Hey now that is my take...and I havent posted about RT since jemoen got banned and even then it was just to counteract his ridiculous takes on things :) :hehe:

But yeah it is funny to watch people flip on this. Though to be fair both sides of the argument tend to move the goalposts around here ;)

edit: Since I am seeing it tomorrow I will say "see ya on the other side" and remind everyone no matter what happens the world wont end. I will give my review when I return!

RT can be a useful guide, as long as you don’t read too much into it, and recognise that the percentage is not a combined review score. I find it to be quite reliable most of the time, in my experience. There are always outliers though, and lots of subjectivity... which is why it’s best to never get too attached to high percentages, or angry about lower ones. By and large though, it’s benefits outweigh its disadvantages.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters of what you think when you see the movie. I am surprised the score isn't higher since it seems to tick a lot of critic boxes, but I don't think that's a deterrent for me. I have seen many films with worse scores. The 70ish % doesn't move the needle for me either way

Glad that you loved it Man ! :yay:

At long last im bout to watch this in a few minutes. LETS GOOOO

I loved it. The Golden Lion win is well deserved.
I'm not surprised about today 's US critics' lukewarm reception, considering their tastes (it's not hopeful, uplifting, light or PC).
Now I have to see it.

“Expertly crafted and features a stunning lead performance, but it's also a morally problematic exercise in cinematic nihilism.“

We’re seeing a lot of negative reviews like this one.

Meh, was expecting this kind of reactions from American critics. Kinda funny other countries praise the film so much. The difference is big. Critics from India gave this pure 4.5/5 and 5/5 reviews. same here in Spain.

I'll say it again, if they don't want to commit to a sequel, continue this world and story through DC's Black Label comics that they are doing right now. That way you dont need to bring Phoenix and Phillips back and we could see how this world evolves moving forward

This would be awesome.
