There is this weird subset of females that are romantically inclined towards Joker.

Assuming the crediting of Harley as an accomplice in the murder of Robin is some Obi-Wan diversion (Vader killed your father), I'd say they are going to do a prequel in which Joker fakes killing Robin, and Batman kills Napier/Joker only to find out Robin has become a new Joker (played by Leto). Or maybe Leto's Joker is the first Robin (Dick Grayson) turned into a copycat Joker who then meets up with Harley, and then those two kill the second Robin.

If they wanted to give Leto another shot in an actual coherent movie where he didn't look like a juggalo, I'd be interested. The guy is a good actor and has the perfect bone structure to do it.

I'm certain people will respond more positively to Leto if they write his character more competently going forward.

Joker is not a bad boy. Batman is a bad boy. The Joker is just bad.

hahahahaahahahahahahaha! No sweetie! Batman is a boy scout with edge. Huge difference.

The Leo-JOKER connection make sense not just because of Marty. The Mark Wahlberg-GAMBLER remake was suppose to be Todd Phillips and Leo

That said, I'm told WB would prefer a younger actor like late 20s, early 30s for franchise appeal

Hell no to Leo as Joker. He's great and all, but There's quite a few options out there.

Give me Gaspard Ulliel!

That makes sense. There are a few up-and-coming/lesser-known younger actors who are starting to be in some quality films who could be great.

Plus having someone younger would differentiate it more from Leto's version.

If they do somehow get Leo in, I'll be watching this for sure, regardless of however negative everything else about the production seems.

Here's a quick and dirty manip I made

Not bad!

I just want a good movie, whether they get Leo or not.

I don't think they need Leo. It can't all rest on his casting.

If all aspects of the movie are good, they could cast someone in the lead who delivers a great performance. Whether he is as big a name as Leo or not.

Agreed on all that.

What I was saying is that if all signs were that it was going to be a terrible movie, I'd still go and see it if Leo was cast.

Let's hope Leonardo doesn't put himself into a terrible movie :oldrazz:

I've been a big fan of Leo's for a long time. Going back to This Boy's Life/Gilbert Grape days. I wouldn't complain if he was cast in this. At the same time, I also feel like he doesn't really need it, so he could easily pass. Also would be intrigued if an up and coming actor were given a chance at it, see what they can really do with it.

It seems like a bigger risk for someone like Leo. And a bigger opportunity for a relative newcomer. But ultimately it should be about who is best for the role.

Ha, yes well he's been amazing at picking top films for a good while now so hopefully that will be an effective filter. If he was offered and accepted the role it would suggest that the film has promise.

Yes me too. I think The Basketball Diaries was the first one that I saw and he was already so good as a young actor. He definitely doesn't need this and it's a risk if anything, but Affleck also didn't need Batman after his directing career was doing so well, but still took the risk. And as always it should be about who's best for the role.

Not weird at all. Bad guys have always had sex appeal. Now some of the Harley self-insert stuff does get a bit weird, but there are far stranger villains to be turned on by.

He's the ultimate bad boy with a sense of humor. Its really not that weird.

Yes it is. He's a murderous lunatic who would commit mass genocide before leaving the toilet seat down for Harley. He isn't a "bad boy" with a heart of gold; he's a monster.

These real life serial killers seem to have their own female fan clubs, penpals who are desperate to meet these bastards. Strange world

He plays in a lot of French films. Though Scorsese directed him in a Bleu de Chanel commercial.
Gaspard is a model/actor. He's won Best Actor in some of his recent films" Saint Laurent" and "It's Only the End of the World".
He has quite a bit of range and has a very intense look.

Yes. This is rather the point... and the problem with making Joker the central character. They're going to demystify and humanise him.

It will be terrible.

hahaha! I didn't say he had a heart of gold. I said he's the ULTIMATE bad boy. He's like A Rock star in a league of his own.
You don't get girls if you honestly think it's weird that they find him appealing. But That's ok.

It's interesting reading how others view the character of the Joker. It is also interesting that up until now, I think everyone has been mostly pleased with DC's treatment of the character. But now it appears one half of the fanbase is going to get what they want out of the character and one half is not. Kind of a growing trend with DC it seems.

have a feeling that they might go for Andrew Garfield. He's worked with Marty before and he's got the right face and body type for it.

I could see it. If you can get past the spider-man stuff of course.

The Joker/Harley dynamic is pretty much the guy that berates and hits his girlfriend yet she continues to ask, "thank you sir, may I have another?" It's not subtle, but hey.
