"The Joker" in development with Todd Phillips and Martin Scorsese attached?

Just to show you how dysfunctional DC/WB are... this was a few weeks back for the show Gotham.

They just don't want to dilute (live action) Joker and Batman away from movies though, so still quite consistent.

While I’m not a fan of Gotham, it’s plainly obvious that the parade of cretins at WB have a very poor attitude towards the TV side of the live action DC universe. They’re more than happy to inflict two Joker films on us, but the mere idea of allowing Joker in the TV shows, or Batman, or Superman etc. is anathema to them. Utter stupidity.

Marvel has a divide between the divisions as well, even though they're all supposed to be in the same universe. Nothing on the TV side will ever impact the movies.

I genuinely fear for the dumb **** Leto is gonna try to do to further make the character his own. Guarantee they’ll give him full autonomy too.

Maybe he’ll have nipple piercings in the shape of the word ‘HA’. Or he’ll get a tattoo on the inside of his lower lip that says “El Guason”

Well WB might think that Gotham not-Joker sucks (like you) so they don't allow Gotham to call the character Joker for fear of hurting the overall quality/ reputation of the Joker. But I don't think their movie Joker (Leto) was very well received in the first place.

I cannot recall one conversation in real life that I’ve had about his Joker that wasn’t followed by a headshake or a sigh. This is the crown heel of villains we’re talking about here. I just don’t understand.

It’s less about the divide, and more about the attitude that there can’t be more than one iteration of a character at the same time on tv and film because ‘it might confuse the audience’... before announcing two completely different movies featuring the same exact character.

Words haven’t been invented yet for how truly ****ing idiotic everyone at WB/DC in the film section is.

I always thought it was hilariously stupid that Leto sent condoms, dead pigs and other gross stuff to the cast of SS in some supposed effort to unsettle or scare them, when he didn't even have any scenes with most of them except for Margot Robbie.

It’s honestly so cringy and embarrassing that he went full “method”, and the end result was honestly like the worst Joker ever.

I don’t want this movie at all unless Leto plans to completely revamp his portrayal of the character. Different voice, different look. His voice was honestly not intimidating at all. It was weird watching him because all the characters acted so afraid of him, but in reality I doubt anyone would be that intimidated... the movie told us we were supposed to be scared but we weren’t at all

I don’t care that he went method, I care that he and his cast mates all talked endlessly to the press about how “kooky and edgy” he was and then a year later once he realized it made him look like a tool he threw a hissy fit and tried to pretend the media made it all up.

To be fair, Suicide Squad did well at the BO.

I don't know why they don't just focus on making Suicide Squad 2 and maximize potential profits instead of having each character spin-off into their own thing with maybe a cameo or two for someone else. I didn't care for Suicide Squad, but I'm more likely to watch a sequel for that instead of a Deadshot movie or a Harley Quinn movie or a Joker movie.

I actually think it was mainly Harley as the selling point of Suicide Squad. Regardless, it was a successful movie. I hated the movie. By far my least favorite DCEU movie. By far. But, that doesn't undersell it's BO.

Joker movie with Leto I agree is a bad idea. But a Harley movie is a good move. She was one of the most popular things about SS. They should be doing Suicide Squad 2 and the Harley movie.
