I liked both films a lot.
Don’t bunch us all into one group.

I said nearly, not all. I also specifically said "die hard fans," the kind that rate BvS as one of the best cbm's ever. I could've just cited the specific people I was talking about, but I didn't want to do that.

Regardless, my intent wasn't to antagonize anyone, just a correlation I observed that I found curious.

An interesting thing I noticed was how nearly every single die-hard Snyder fan on these boards absolutely hated TLJ.

Food for thought.

You is barking up the wrong tree. I loved MOS and BVS. And I ADORE TLJ. So... Yeah.

That said... I think there are a some whom I won't name that seem to me, hating on this movie for the sole purpose of "striking back" at Disney/Marvel Studios. They aren't the majority but they are around in my opinion.

The over the top discourse of the online world makes for a lot of bitter resentments that fester and express themselves in a constant campaign of revanchist sentiments. But... I think that's a mirror of the society at large and not just something quarantined to the genre fan community.

I still really like MoS, loathe BvS, and really like TLJ. So nothing is universal. :woot:

I think there is at least some of that going around in fan circles and I don't really understand it. I want all of them to be good.

TLJ isn’t deep and complex, but it is a very good Star Wars film.

The plot to all Star Wars films is pretty straight forward. But the characters are complex and the themes are quite heavy. If you look at the plot of ESB for example, nothing really moves anyone forward by the end of it. In fact, the heroes are worse off and the Rebellion is no closer than they were in ANH to defeating the Empire. But the character work...the dynamics and arcs and emotions is all grade A work.

Even the Prequels has a ton of subtext and metaphors (which I loved; literally the only things that needed fixing in those films were the CGI, acting and dialogue). But to say TLJ or even the other films aren’t deep....I don’t buy that. There is a lot to sink your teeth in with these films.

The prequels need a lot more work then that. A lot more. Though yeah, bad acting and writing is a pretty big deal.

I am very sorry that the rumors of Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker turned out to be false.
In AOTC, he just came off as a spoiled brat to me.

A lot of the worst acting and dialogue could have easily been eliminated simply by having an editor doing something remotely close to an adequate job. This is especially true with TPM . IMO that is the most poorly edited movie of all time. No one seemed to have the guts to say "No George. Just ... no"

Oh no. That is Suicide Squad for larger budget films.

.......I don't get what you're trying to say?
But it's okay, Hayden will show up in EP 9 anyways...and this time with a much better director ;)

Chinese pre-sale of The Last Jedi already started. Early tracking shows it probably will make under $30M on three-day debut.
The Force Awakens - $52.82M 2-day debut / $125.26M total
Rogue One - $32.51M 3-day debut / $69.15M total

Didn't say it didn't do any thing special. But a 69% drop this movie had its first weekend and that is a lot for like any movie.

I think the 32 million dollar Monday will help with that percentage lol

Ehh, drops on the 24th are well documented to be higher than normal.

And frankly, we need more movies that open this high to get a better idea of how they run in this time period.

It’s mostly a fluke of the calendar.

(I should probably just copy paste this to my clipboard as it looks like I’ll be using it regularly for the next week.)

Any realistic idea like how much the holiday calendar cost the movie on its 3d week though? Also if you look at the 4 day told for both this week and RO this movie is only like 5 million higher even though TLJ opened much higher.

I hated BvS and I think parts of the DCEU should be rebooted. I also hated ASM 2, have issues with TDKR, was underwhelmed by GOTG2, loved WW, SMHC, IT, and Rouge One.

This really isn't a Snyder DC thing vs SW. The debate about film is basically SW vs SW fans. Sure, there's some overlap given that it all falls into geek culture stuff, but lets get real.

The debate is basically a civil war within the SW fan community as opposed to outside fanbases trolling it.
