I suspect she'll show up in a few screwball comedy movies as a supporting character, playing a teenager regardless of her actual age, for a few years, then promptly fade into obscurity. I doubt Tom Welling will even be that lucky, though.

Business as usual then. :hehe:

She's obscure already.

I doubt Tom Welling will even be that lucky, though.

Welling has done much bigger stuff to be remembered by and he has a much bigger fan base so Welling is no danger of being in Kruek's position any time soon.

I'm not even gonna watch this...it looks worse than I could even imagine. I don't think I could even WRITE something this bad.

She did try her best, but she shouldn't be doing any other action movies.

from what I hear...she's the only person who didn't embaress herself in the movie.

What bigger stuff has Welling done outside of Smallville? Welling has no range to speak of; I used to say the same of Kreuk, but she's clearly taken some lessons in the past couple years and is now capable of expressing more emotions than "concerned" and "worried." Welling's emotional range still runs the gamut from "bored" to "laconic" however, and his entire fanbase - much like Kreuk - is based on his prettiness. It won't last, and he's got nothing else except the megabomb "The Fog" to his name.

Outside of that the only other movies, that seem to be attached to his resume are "Cheaper by the Dozen 1 and 2."

Prior to that, there's not much else. 6 episodes on "Judging Amy", 1 episode of "Special Unit 2" as Male Victim #1, and Undeclared, the pilot episode.

Which is more then Kruek can say for herself. Smallville and Cheaper by the Dozen are huge mainstream projects he has exposed the audience to. The only thing Kruek has is Eurotrip and she's only in that for five minutes.

It won't last,

No, it won't. It does guarantee he has a high profile connection to the Superman franchise, though. That's more then enough for him to have some impact on pop culture. Kruek will be remembered as a footnote on Smallville at best.

What was the budget from The Fog? BOM has it achieving $21 million. How does that compare to Street Fighter?

I think it's safe to say the two are going to go down in history as being equally impressive failures. Once you get to a certain level of FAIL, relative degrees aren't very significant anymore.

As for myself, I'll be checking out Street Fighter tonight and I hope I can enjoy it. So far this thread has 4 positive reviews of the movie, 1 ambivalent review and 2 negative reviews. That's actually kinda promising, frankly. Especially since it's the fans of the games that seem to be liking it the most in here.

It's like changing Bruce Wayne from a billionaire playboy, who changes into Batman at night, to a violin player, who stays with the League of Shadows and then wondering why fans are getting upset.

You're supposed to adapt the stories, not make up an entirely new one. What was the problem with making this a Cop story?
Ehhh, what supposed to in ur book is not 'supposed' to in the studio's book.
I'm not gonna defend the 'new story' in SF as I'm not really a SF fan so Im fuzzy on characters backrounds. I'm not naive enough to think studios are gonna follow source material to the tee or alter it for 'big screen' viewing.
I'm just a firm believer what works on one medium does'nt translate well for another. I also feel that 'source materials' are guidelines not to be quoated word for word. Ya gotta let the director/writers have their own invisioning of the story and let them decide if it fits on the big screen.
Does it suck when things are left out that 'you' think should be in the film, sure it does. However; I try to look at it as a movie as a whole not what they left out from the 'source material'.
Christ what would happen if they put every detail from source material from Lord of the Rings or Dune :)

The first half of this film is decent. Kristen Kreuk does a better job than expected, and the fighting is ok...but the film gets really bad in the second half; as soon as the lesbian dance scene starts. :p

I liked Bison, but him having an Irish accent didn't make sense. Oh yeah...Chris Klein's acting really sucks!

So, first half: good, second half: tragic.

Ok, I finally saw it, and I'm glad I didnt waste any money watching this movie.
So yes, like everyone else said, movie is really bad, worse than Van Damme's.
The worst character was Vega, who had no purpose in the movie whatsoever.
Well I guess they just cant turn Street Fighter into a good movie.

Haha, all these small details make me glad that I wasn't a hardcore Street Fighter fan going to see this film.

No one should ever take Street Fighter seriously. That's why it's better animated. That way we get the right physiques and colorful costumes.

Okay so I finally saw this movie... you know what? Definitely not bad.

Definitely not. I'm not sure how anyone could call this movie remotely as awful as, say, an Uwe Boll film. Or even movies like Mortal Kombat: Annihilation or Dead or Alive.

That having been said, what it is, is... kinda bland. It's boring, because it tries so hard to make the world of Street Fighter be taken seriously and have more realism behind it, and I'm not sure that's the right direction to go.

So yeah, I definitely don't comprehend anyone thinking this movie is "worst of the year" material, or even "utterly awful" material. At its worst, it has a couple scenes that are lame. The worst one is easily the one you can watch on RottenTomatoes and IGN, called "His Name's Bison" - that's the low point of the whole film, but in the actual film, those flashes of Bison are NOT in the movie - just the shots in the office!

But overall, Street Fighter fans will appreciate how much it tries to connect to the stories of the games and offer references to game plotlines. But even those fans are likely to feel a bit blah about this affair - despite some great fights and geek refs, it's just pretty boring and slow. And if you're NOT a fan of the game mythology... well, bring a pillow.

In short - much better than the director's "Doom," and a lot more faithful to the games than the '94 Van Damme film. But it's not gonna break most people's opinions of video game adaptions either.

I'd say they weren't failures on the same scale. For one, people actually knew about The Fog. If it got more money back from the box office it succeeded more then Street Fighter financially, too.

I expect her to run back to Smallville & become a recurring & important enough character to get back into the opening credits next season

wow no one learned from the Van damme Street fighter

True, but the film makers must to it seriously.

This should be possible in a live action movie IMO. It won't be perfect, but they should be doing better then this. MCD as Balrog is a genius casting idea which should have worked given the right script. The colorful costumes will always be a hurdle but its not impossible. Its quite a feat that the first ST film got a better cast which suited their characters then the new one, excluding Balrog. The live action Street Fighters biggest problem are scripts. It seems like its ownly the animated adaptions that put enough quality into those. Were the scripts for the ST films better the film franchise might not be such a joke.
