Ryu is worried because he's turning evil or something. Ken is there. Ryu adopts a kid or takes a kid under his wing and maybe trains him. There is a tournament in which the kid fights Zangief. Zangief gets the kid in that awesome pile driver move he does and is about to end him, when Ryu flies in and saves him in spectacular fashion.

The ending of the flashback has Ryu traveling to some island to fight some guy who destroys tens of wooden posts or something.

Ok, reading through this thread, I had flashes of the above in my head. Am I just imagining some elaborate SF fantasy, or was something like that ever filmed and Im just remembering something I watched long ago.

Sumbody Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

Wow she has chun Li's butt. Nice.

Street Fighter - The Later Years is better anyway.

Zhang is almost too perfect. That's probably why they passed on her. :o

Just like the damn Blade tv show. Let's pass up on people who might know real martial arts...for someone who knows not lick one of how to fight.

ha ha ha ha ha ha...Lana Lang as a chinese martial arts master...my god, this sounds worse than the original already...at least Jean Claude Van Damme was the correct ethnicity for his character...bwa ha ha ha ha...

As the residential Kristin Kreuk fanboy of the Hype I'm blaming myself for this

It seems like my favourite celebs are being cast in bizarre doomed projects

First Christian Bale gets cast in a McG helmed Terminator sequel. Now babygirl gets cast as Chun-Li in Street Fighter directed by the dude Romeo Must Die?

Oh well, its probably a rumour and even if its true, its probably small direct to DVD thing no biggie.

And Street Fighter doesnt exactly have a rabid fanbase who is gonna give her crap. Why? Probably because other people are giving them crap for being a rabid fanbase of Street Fighter.

It'll probably be better than DOA with Alica Baker and Butterly Effect 2 with Erica Durance

Also, just for the record she does know a bit of Martial Arts and casting Zang Zizi or however you spell her name is redudant by now when it comes to these martial arts movie.

...and for the record, again......Its Street Fighter. Not Batman 3, its not like your gonna need or even expect and elite cast. So keep it moving..

Seriously, us video game fans are more than aware movies based after our favorite games going to suck, big time.

So there's nothing to complain about. Just fall back and take another bad video game movies like a inmate takes a prison rape...(pause)

I was actually very surprised by the announcement of Kristin as Chun-Li...yet somehow, it makes a weird sort of sense. "Street Fighter II" appeared to portray the character as a very athletic Chinese warrior in her mid-to-late 20's. Well, judging by her role on "Smallville", most fans know that Kristin can run very well, and she's shown considerable martial arts ability in a few episodes as well. Season 3's "Delete" had her in an all-out catfight with Allison Mack, so I'm pretty convinced she could do the role justice. Plus, with today's SFX technology, it's be interesting to see how her special moves are realized (namely, the Kikoken fireball, the Lightning Kick, and the inverted Spinning Bird Kick). If both Kristin and the character are treated with the proper respect, this could be a good move for both Capcom and her career. :D

As a Kreuk fan I can say probably not lol

But it has given wonderful ideas for avatars

Can anyone tell me again what is that weird phrase Chun-li use to say everytime she won? "Yee-Taaaa" or something like that?

Isn't she half chinese and half dutch or something?

I just hope the action will be good. It's a movie based on a fighting game. It's all that I can hope for. The screenplay can be oscar worthy material. If the action is ****, I don't care.

She does? That's news to me.

And the last martial arts movie I saw Zhang Ziyi in was House of Flying Daggers and that was like 3, maybe 4 years ago so I think it would actually be a comeback to martial arts for her if she was cast in this.

Kreuk has a wide enough @$$ to be Chun Li from Street Fighter 3. That's about the best thing that can be said about her in the role I'm afraid. :o

1) lol@ you even entertaining the thought of this movie's screenplay being "Oscar Worthy"

2) That Zang Ziyh chick is only known for those roles but this is probably some direct to dvd thing, I dont think she would do it on that merit. Plus she's redundant know when she comes to these roles. What was her last movie? She wasnt in Memoirs of Geisha right? I'm thinking someone else maybe.

3) lol@ The Joker thinking The Street Fighter 94 producers got anything right with casting JCVD. Although he did have the classic line..."I'm gonna kick that sunnava***** Bison's ass so hard, the next Bison wannabe is gonna feel it"
