All these statements are true. (Except that fighting games don't have 'main characters' per se). Additionally, Ryu is usually in the opening cinematics and Akuma, the 'final boss' of SF is his storyline. Ryu is, for all intents and purposes, the lead character in street fighter. I get that.

I don't believe that translates into much street recognizability because his costume is so generic. Anime movies would be irrelevant in such matters.

Everything appears cool with your post except for that comment about the anime movie? Why should it be ignored? It did better than the live action movie? So why should it be ignored when it has already proven that it can do better than it's live action counter part?

No, not the head bite!

The only other character that is green with orange hair that is that cool is Bowser!

I've never seen Chun Li fight E Honda in the animation. But in the Chinese comics he beat her. Then Guile comes in to save her life.

Yo YOU!! Why are you hating on me in your Signature? Gambit's the man, they should do a stand alone Gambit film!

Except in Street Fighter Ken is literally Ryu with a blond wig, red gi and grinning. The man still has jet black eyebrows for some reason. Maybe there's a whole Tyler Durden thing going on with Ryu that we don't know about.

I heard that Ken is actually half Japanese and Half American, which explains the black eyebrows.

I didn't know that, I just assumed that the mainstream doesn't watch anime, unless it's on cartoon network, and I couldn't really conceive of the Anime movie getting more exposure than a movie released in theatres, even one as bad as Street Fighter. But if what you say is true, then, well, I was incorrect.

I do not believe the Anime movie makes a large enough contribution to change the final conclusion, but perhaps it should be footnoted, along with the live action version instead of completely ignored.

Indeed, far be it from me to say that the Anime film is the be all and end all of Street Fighter movies. That is of course just my opinion.

However I still think that is the movie standard to beat.

Well, this is all pretty interesting. I wonder if it's even really going to happen.

I do agree with those who think that Ryu should be the main character. The Chun-Li concept could work if Ryu plays a major role.

I agree too. Ryu is a great lead, not the only one but he is a good one. Guile would be good to.

FIRST LEAKED PIC!!!

those legs are why I love Chun-Li so much :D

Very strong legs...very bulky...almost manly...but not there. Looks like a child. Much better...

Wait a second!

Why would Ryu be the main character in a movie about Chun Li?

That's like making a Catwoman movie with Batman the main character.

i think they were saying that a proper Street Fighter movie would have Ryu as the main character, not Chun-Li. however, i think they fail to realize that this isn't going to be a proper Street Fighter movie and that they're trying to appeal to the adolescent perv in all of us.
