Capcom a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, is proud to confirm the main cast for its live-action Street Fighter movie based on the hugely popular video game series.

The story revolves around fan-favorite Chun-Li, who will be portrayed by actress Kristen Kreuk (of Smallville fame). Michael Clark Duncan, Neal McDonough, and Taboo of Black Eyed Peas are also on board to round out this all-star cast. The film will be made in conjunction with Hyde Park Films, and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox for a scheduled 2009 worldwide release.

The Street Fighter movie is only one of many projects Capcom has planned to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Street Fighter®. Summer 2008 will see the Japanese arcade release of the much-anticipated Street Fighter® IV.

Street Fighter was first released in 1987 to critical acclaim for its innovative features. This was followed up in 1991 with the smash hit Street FighterII, which broke records by being available in 500 thousand arcade cabinets and selling over 25 million units on home systems. These records cemented Street Fighter’s reputation as one of the most popular fighting game series of all time and ensured that the fighting genre would become a staple of the gaming world.

The cast so far includes:
• Chun-Li: Kristin Kreuk. Plays the role of Lana Lang in the WB television series Smallville .

• Balrog: Michael Clarke Duncan. The Island (2005), Sin City (2005), Daredevil (2003), The Scorpion King (2002), Planet of the Apes (2001), See Spot Run (2001), The Whole Nine Yards (2000), The Green Mile (1999), Breakfast of Champions (1999), Armageddon (1998)

• M. Bison: Neal McDonough. The Hitcher (2007), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), The Guardian (2006), Timeline (2003), MinorityReport (2002), Band of Brothers (2001)

• Vega: Taboo. Member of popular R&B music group Black Eyed Peas and recipient of three Grammy Awards.

• Charlie Nash: Chris Klein. We Were Soldiers (2002), American Pie (1999)

US, March 24, 2008 - The new movie version of Street Fighter, which is currently filming with Smallville actress Kristin Kreuk in the lead role of Chun-Li, has added a new cast member: Chinese actress Josie Ho.
Ho may not be known to most American moviegoers, but she's a singer and actress from Hong Kong, and has starred in the recent films Exiled and The Drummer. According to Variety, she's joined the videogame adaptation in an unspecified role.
The rest of the cast breaks down like this: Micheal Clark Duncan is Balrog, Taboo from the Black Eye Peas will play vain Spaniard Vega, Chris Klein is marine Charlie Nash, Rick Yune is the gnarled, mystical warrior Gen; and Neil McDonough plays M. Bison.

Kristin Kreuk, Chris Klein, and the guy from The Hitcher starring in a movie about Chun-Li. Is there any way this movie doesn't suck? Why Michael Clarke Duncan? Why?

Chun Li's mom in a flashback?

man it must have been a while since i last played...who the hell are all these people?

Kristin Kreuk, Chris Klein, and the guy from The Hitcher starring in a movie about Chun-Li. Is there any way this movie doesn't suck? Why Michael Clarke Duncan? Why?

I'm actually loving this cast. I was expecting muuuch worse. Like people I've never even heard of.

Michael Clark Duncan as Balrog is hardly something to whine about.

BTW, what do you suppose the chances are that we'll see an homage to the Chun Li vs. Vega fight from the animated Street Fighter 2 movie? :D

Um how can you have a street fighter movie without The fat sumo guy, beast, the brothers or the character in the games.
She looked cute in the games and Kristen Kruek is cute and may be ok but lead character i am not too sure.

Of the actors thats been cast for this movie, Taboo as Vega is my least favorite. My favorite....um.....

Michael Clarke Duncan as balrog might be as bad as Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin. Horrible casting.

I think a lot of you are looking at this movie the wrong way. This is not an all out Street Fighter movie. Just one story, centralising on one character. Also this movie is literally just a promo tie in to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game and SF 4 being released. So the fact that it is just treated as a tie in means you probably shouldnt expect much from this......

Because this is a movie about Chun Li, not all the Street Fighter characters

Somehow the "Legend of Chun-Li" title seems to allude them in the absence of Captain Obvious....

Really, you had to that, really?

I mean we're trying to have a serious conversation about a Street Fighter movie (mau, mau....)

Yes, I had to.

And I'm not sorry about it.

Michael Clarke Duncan as balrog might be as bad as Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin. Horrible casting.

When did MCD become considered a bad actor? :huh:You could have gotten Evander Holyfield casted just because he's a real boxer and not an actor. Be thankful.

And Kingpin was good casting and don't pull the "He wasn't even white!" card.

MCD is so far the best casting choice in this movie. He is spot on, I can't think of any other known actor for Balrog
