I also think Ryu's journey wouldn't be too interesting. The dark hadou would be a nice thing to explore, but all it would come down to in a movie is one and a half hours of Ryu wandering around.

Just look at the 3 Movies and one series we've gotten. All he does is travel and fight. You need a hell of a supporting cast and maybe 1-2 side plots to keep the movie interesting. Kinda like the Animated Movie did. It was all about Chun Li and Guile trying to stop Shadaloo, while Ryu was wandering and training, without even having heard of the organisation, and only when the movie was almost over he actually met Guile and the showdown started.

Once again, the director of this movie is the director of DOOM and CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I'm not surprised.

Sometimes, directors can surprise you though. I heard the guy who is directing Terminator Salvation, made Charlie's Angels.

But the guy here screwed up big time.

Well I'm still not sold on Terminator Salvation.

Just saying. Andrezj has a long list of garbage on his filmography that he's showed no signs of getting out of.

See James Wong and Dragon Ball.

Michael Clarke Duncan will make a great Balrog.

People who complain about him using weapons are, in all honest, freakin stupid. As long as they mention he had the past of a boxer (which they are) and he punches people at some point (which he will) then there is NO HARM done to the character. Balrog has to take somebody out at long range

Don't be too sure. The entire script didn't mention anything of his boxing career. That could've changed though.

Anyway, in the script Balrog was nothing more than your typical big muscle guy. But he barely used any hand to hand at all, only when he didn't have a gun handy. He was just like a strong guy with no training whatsoever, someone who only gets by with brute strength.

Any big muscled black guy would have been good as Balrog.

If you ask me, I still think they should've gotten the real Balrog for the movie. ;)

Hint: Balrog was originally named M. (As in for Mike) Bison, in the original Japanese version

Yeah, I remember way back when SF 2 was first released they made Balrog look exactly like Mike Tyson. When they changed it to SF 2 turbo or Special Edition (can't remember) they changed his vs screen pic but then introduced Fei-Long who was obviously supposed to be Bruce Lee. I remember thinking how un-original the makers were.:whatever:

I see it as more of a tribute.

IDK. I didn't see it that way. I may have read WAAAAAY too much into it but it seemed that the Japanese writers wanted to belittle one of China's greatest heroes. Ryu was clearly meant to beat up on Fei-Long as shown evident in the SF animated show.

i think you're looking too far into it. real life is always providing inspiration for fiction. if anything, introducing Fei Long reinvigorated interest in Bruce Lee.

Wait. I just saw the Japanese trailer...is M. Bison the goateed fellow in the suit?

depends on who you ask. if you ask the fans they'll say no. if you ask the filmmakers they'll say yes.

he's seriously playing Bison??? Oh no, he needs to go back to desperate housewives cuz he AINT no Bison!

Just saw the Japanese trailer and I can't believe i'm saying this but the Van Damme version actually looks better than this. Not a good sign really, and isnt this film due out next month and there's no other trailer but the Japanese one??

Wish I could say I'm disappointed but that would be a lie, didnt expect much from this when i first heard Lana lang would be cast as Chun Li.

Now it would really be something if Fox came out with a Fatal Fury film, and somehow Geese Howard resembled M. Bison

Yeah,I'd like to say that I am disappointed with the trailer, but I can't, because I was never expecting anything good from this movie when I first heard that it's gonna be about Chun Li and not Ryu and Ken....(Well to be honest with you the only thing I was expecting was the characters wearing their costumes..but no, even that they failed...):cmad:

About the only reason I'll sit through is Kreuk. Otherwise, its a film that has STREET FIGHTER in name only slapped on it.

and sadly, the 94 film succeeded in that

at least when i look at the 94 film, I see Raul Julia as M. Bison, in this new one I see Neal Mcdonough as M. Business

Have the same issue and it would have taken a simple dye job to remedy the problem.
