Yeah, I think it was suppose to be that the chemicals used on Blanka got on him during that scene with the Bison trooper. Yet for some reason they never brought it up.

Or we can probably go off of this excuse:

Comparing the new adaptation to his version, he recalled the flaw of the original flick saying, "When we were making the original one, they insisted that all of the characters be in the movie. And if you do the math, that gives you about 7 minutes per character if you split it up equally...And then [Jean-Claude] Van Damme was cast. But he still wasn't in the whole movie, because it was so overpopulated!"

Either way, it would have taken less than a few minutes screen time to explain despite all of the characters in play.

Some characters don't even need that much screentime. Look at the animated Movie. Zangief and Blanka were just part of an illegal fighting match. Dee Jay was a bouncer for a dance club or something like that.

We're not demanding everyone to be properly fleshed out, because some are just not that interesting and just good enough for fight scenes.

Hollywood will never get a video game movie right until they realize they need to hire a director that actually cares about the story and characters.

Exactly.

But the problem is... who makes the call? By shrinking the role of some of the characters into cameos, you still wind up annoying fans about as much as simply cutting out their favorite characters.

Interestingly enough, this seems to be what they're doing in the new movie. They're spending more screen time fleshing out some characters (e.g. Chun Li, M. Bison and possibly Charlie) at the expense of others (e.g. Balrog and Vega) as well as completely cutting out other characters that don't quite fit (e.g. Ryu and Ken) instead of trying to force them in.

I'm afraid to watch it..
.
.
why did i just watch it?

Wow, that looks like a 2 hour cliche. From the cheesey slow motion run away from the explosion to the corny "You will not stop me," line from the villain at the end. Even the tag line..."Some fight for power, some fight for us." This movie just screams career killer.

I'm waiting for the reviews, then MAYBE I'll watch it.

holy **** i just realised that Nash is being played by.. Chris F'n Klein.. somehow i've been under the illusion that it was Chris Evans..

not that it would have been any better..

i've gotta admit that first i was pretty excited about this movie and tried to defend it here on this thread but now.. it kills me to say this because i'm a huge SF fan but.. this is gonna blow.. after reading the script and seeing the trailers.. i dont see any possible way how this movie could be even "ok" ..

unless Bison is similar to the 94 version .. "GAMEEEEEEHH OVAAA-HHHH" ..

I was actually hoping that they would get closer this time. Really was....but the trailer just killed it for me.

It looks like dumb, cliched fun. Judging on how the reviews go, I might see it in theaters.

That said, it looks like Forbidden Kingdom crossed over with Dragonball Evolution with a bit of Elektra. Which can't be good.

The trailer doesn't even reveal anything...oh and we get one line of dialogue:whatever:

Does anybody that read the script have any idea as to why Bison's a blonde?

I don't think there is going to be an explanation in the film why he is blonde. He is blonde and thats it. Unless Vega says to Bison ''Nice hair style'', Bison: ''Thanks, got it cut dyed last week, wanted a new look''.

lol. Would be nice to have some sort of explanation for the change.

I can forgive the mask change, that Vega has. I'll admit I kind of like the metal change. But the blondeness of Bison just leaves me...blah. I mean the actor couldn't go in for a simple dye job?

I like Vega's mask, but not his outfit. If he was topless with the tattoo, that's be sweet.

Bison's hair doesn't bother as much as his crap business suit he is wearing. I can picture that Sin City, over the top style working for Street Fighter. That way they would have gotten away with so much more.

Only thing I can figure is Vega may striptease and attempt to kill Chun-Li. Either that or she rips his clothes off revealing that look.

Yeah, I'm hoping that there are at least some of the looks still intact in this prequel.

Would have rather this film gone into tournament mode in the first place and traveled the world.

I want a Street Fighter II recreated scene, where Chun Li is naked in the shower when Vega breaks in to kill her:hehe:

Knowing our luck this is going to be PG-13 territory.

Wouldn't mind see Kreuk fulfill that scene, period.

It probably would have been a body double like that season 2 or 3 Smallville episode.

In the early days, yes very much, but by the season four point, in "Crusade", she stepped up to the plate and did her first shower scene. Or at least that's the way the changes went the way I remember it. Of course SV never went the full on reveal. So I wouldn't be surprised if it happened in this movie if she did go that route.
