So making a Ryu and Ken movie would have reversed the writing and direction quality?

Oh right. Try finding a big, brawny Asian guy who could pass for Japanese. You'll see Pat Morita is the normal body type in Land of the Rising Sun. You couldn't even get Ade Rai to play a Japanese guy.

I was saying that if the movie focused on Ryu and Ken the movie would still be bad if it was made with the same crew.

That's it I'm watching Future Cops to make myself feel better

Let's face it. Video game movies are mostly pointless. They should have made another theatrical anime.

I don't know if an anime would have been that good. I liked the first animated Movie, but others after that weren't really impressive.

I've been reading the first issue of Street Fighter Legends: Chun Li by UDON. The movie should have been similar to that. Something like Jackie Chan's Police story.

So...I went into Legend of Chun-Li knowing it'd suck, expecting atrocious acting, as well as piss-poor fight choreography.

Well, I was right, but at least the first half was watchable for me with those expectations. I was surprised to find that most of their origins are correct despite some changes. Regardless of proper origins, faithfulness a good movie does not make. Chris Klein's acting was definitely the worst.

What's funny [I live in Japan so I saw it in a Japanese theater] is they actually bothered to have all the actors revoice the movie with the names calling Bison Vega, Balrog Bison, and Vega Balrog. Thought that was cool of them to do.

Oh they exist alright, they're just not actors. I've seen a few Japanese men as big as [Video Game Version] Guile. Unfortunately, all Hollywood thinks of Asians is how Ling Ling is depicted as in Drawn Together.

Bodybuilders generally aren't martial artists. The last time we even saw female bodybuilders in a Jackie Chan film, they didn't even talk. You think people are mocking Kristen Kreuk? Imagine how bad they would treat Bolo Young if he played Ryu. They'd stick make fun of him even if is Asian.

I wouldn't say Hollywood is stuck in the old stereotypes. When it comes to these action films, they'll expect the casting that Hong Kong flicks practiced themselves. That means we won't even get buff actors.

In an ideal world, for me anyway, they woulda made a proper SF movie years ago with Keith (Hirabayashi) Cooke as Ryu and Gary Daniels as Ken. Hell, Van Damme coulda still been Guile as far as I'm concerned. Billy Blanks coulda been DJ, Robin Shou as Fei Long, Mattias Hues as Bison and Ong Soo Han as Sagat.

There should have been no pretentions of it being a movie above it's station - it shoulda just been a straight up, kick-ass martial arts flick featuring real martial artists. It wouldnt have exactly been a box office bonanza either, but it certainly wouldve gone some way to satisfy SF fans and martial arts movie fans in general.

Also, granted, it wouldnt have been the greatest example of acting in the world, but to be honest, I'm sick of seeing non martial artists in these things on screen acting like theyre adept.

A movie adaption of a martial arts game featuring real martial artists. Such a prospect surely shouldnt seem so absurd?

I might watch this at work on Sunday....

I'm expecting.....hilarity.

That's like casting actual teens for teenage movies! You can't do that! Can't you see?

This is how Kreuk got involved with this movie, no doubt.

Kristin Kreuk's agent: :sipping scotch in his office and sobbing:...I have to stop this! She is quickly becoming the female Tom Welling. A talentless hack with a cute face and an irrationally large following based on some teenage soap opera! What have I done!?! Wait! I've got it! *pulls the Legend of Chun Li script out of his desk* This will stop her for sure! FOR SURE I SAY! BUAHAHAHAHA!

This movie was hilarious. As long as you go in expecting nothing, it's an entertaining, laughable ride.

We'll always have the game...

.....get ready......TOO CHINESE!!! :wow: wtf???

To this day, I still don't understand how anyone could look "too" Chinese or too much of any race or ethnicity.

Well this is off the subject, but Woody Allen's adopted daughter/wife always comes to mind...mann :csad:Soon Yi is Aisan 4real.

The original is classic crap...I love it!

no, you are not. and i have always been proud of liking the original

I feel the same, :yay:

Even if Kreuk was naked in this, I wouldn't pay to go see it. And I am always for seeing chicks naked, but for some reason, I just don't want to see her naked.

Yup, there's somethin bout that babe that is off putting-this is just the icing her playin Chinese:whatever:
