Iron Man 2 The 'Let's Talk Tactical Combat Drones' thread

Like mummys, or ghost pirates, or undead pirates...or people who can't die...these are just plot points for mindless action without any death...really over done...sure it will be cool...but when finally after 10 minutes of killing dornes...it will just be dumb...

WTF are you talking about?! Iron Man killed about 30 people in the first movie, why would they shy away now? Did you just forget about all the people he laid waste to, or are you just too busy nitpicking and over-theorizing?

Honestly, those drones better be tough as **** if this movie wants a good third act (Iron Man had a truly bad third act that makes the movie less enjoyable on repeat viewings).

Considering that Whiplash is the typical evil villain role gladiator entering the arena seeking revenge with a crudely practical harness and whips, Justin Hammer is the intellectual equal villian, Black Widow is the anti-hero, and War Machine is the mirror armored friend turned foe by only plot convenience to team-up again for marketing purposes, the drones need to be the muscle the inhuman heavies mass-marketed cheaply by the military-industrial complex.

They need to have hard to piece armor that even when made into swiss cheese with bullet holes they still attack relentlessly, they don't have a pilot's brains and reaction time but they have pure brawn and no human weaknesses. It should take a lot of teamwork for the iron men to win in the fight.

It would make a good contrast, that the man makes the suit and not the power-source by itself. Whiplash does that too but as a stripped down version of Iron Man not his opposite.
And tbh, I thought the cackling Iron Monger sham in the first movie just sucked, they have to make the villian so over the top that he makes the whole suited pilot idea ridiculous too. I rather see War Machine be the armored character and not a cackling Mickey Rourke in a cgi power suit.

I don't remember Stane cackling once in the first movie, and I've seen it 50 times. And the ending was really good. Could it have been better? Sure, but the fight was awesome while it lasted. I would hardly call it bad.

Now this is hardly conclusive but if you pay attention to the TCD's in the backround at the 2:16-2:17 mark(where the WM & IM face plates come down), you can see some of them shifting around in a somewhat human-like manner as they wait to attack. It could be nothing or it could mean that each has an RC operator(kind of like the Telepresence armor from the comics).

I hope they don't have operators. I'd say the whole point of having Iron Man and War Machine fighting against an army of robots in unhabited woods is to display all their firepower without having to worry about human lifes. Complete robots all the way.

If they had RC operators they wouldn't have to worry about human lives.

They'd control the drones from outside, you mean?

I'd be cool with that. But I still like myself some complete robots. :woot:

I think that the Drones look cool and i think are programmed by Hammer to kill Stark and Rhodey

Yeah, that's why I referenced the Iron Man telepresence armor(I dunno which mark it is); same concept and has a counterpart in the real world with the predator drones that are currently now being used by the military.

Please!! If those robots drones had pilots i'm sure iron man and war machine would have no problem tearing them apart. But still i think the purpose of calling them drones is to in sure that these are RC and robot drones who just packs on firepower. I like this idea and it was coming sooner or later i think.. This can also show Iron Man at full action plus more repulsors!!!. The 1st movie only showed it like probably 7 times tops. Still i think this is a purpose oppurtunity for Tony and Rhodes to blow off some steam by unleashing Hell :cwink:

Like how Iron Burger said...I bet...that these little drones are going to be so easy to kill that like one shot will kill them, but the "cool" thing about them is that it brings WM and IM together. That's just lame...I have no idea for a better move, but the one they came up with...millions of enemy drones...seems pretty weak...they probably won't end up killing them all, they will kill a whole whack load and then something is gonna happen where all of them are get shut down or something...really? These drones are the equivalent to mindless easy to kill zombies where they just keep appearing and coming at you.
So let's have violence for the sake of violence huh?
No, I just think the way they chose to have Tony and Rhodey team up is pretty lame, they're probably gonna do the whole back to back, facing different directions...

You guys do realize that these "one shots" are a very very powerful repulser blast, right?

And in the WM/IM Drone scene, there's a few drones that get blasted by those repulsers and get right back up.

Yeah i noticed this, i even saw tony double pulse one punched it AND blast it again. These drones puts up a good fight. Well.....Can't blamed war machine. Blasting up everything.

Good...that's better...but I'm still banking on Tony and Rhodey not killing them all and the drones being shut down somehow...

I'll be extremely pissed if they don't destroy the drones.

Kind of makes the War Machine armor seem useless.

For the drone armor to be so strong and to be so massively produced seems a little far fetched considering that this new technology has only been around for a little while...I'm talking about the time period between films...

these two drones:

Get blasted in the head, I don't see the one on the far left, but the right one gets right back up.

Told ya. These drones can hold a fight. Which leaves quite a challange for the 2. But seriously i will get up and walk out the theater if doing the fight all the drones just power down and the 2 fly away OR if iron man or war machine armor power down. Then seriously i'm done.

Damn that's a badass looking shot, it looks like it was ripped from the comic.

Repulsar blasts >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gatling and machine guns

Iron Man is still the best thing in that fight. War Machine just makes it amazing.

I'm still 100% Iron Man.

I actually love the scene, I love seeing Iron Man moving around. LITERALLY right hooking a bot then blasting another. GAWD!!

I know!!!! Awesome!! My scene would be where both of their helmet clamps down. So cool.
