The Lone Ranger - Part 2

How exactly is Depp's performance "cliché"?

He might as well broke out ;"How";quot;. I just didn't like his voice or speech pattern or anything..

Also, roach is right in that it felt like Depp giving another exaggerated performance.

It was Depp giving an exaggerated performance, to a point. But how is that a cliché Indian persona? If anything, it's the opposite.

I don't get the "How" comment. He was about as far from that as you can be.

I don't know it was just something about his voice. It just doesn't work for me. I didn't get into the character and I was very aware of who I was watching . Maybe I need to watch it again, because I literally finished watching it 15 minutes before that initial post.

Well, his tastes are actually very close to a real person's you don't need to dislike a weak film as long as you enjoyed it, and he probably enjoyed them a lot. I see people who love both The Godfather and Michael Bay movies equally, it's only in the internet that people can be a bit........elitist with their tastes.

Lone Ranger wasn't horrible, it just didn't spark anything in a lot of people.

I saw this today and I don't care what anyone says, I f***in loved it. I loved it from start to finish. The action, score, and the story were all just amazing.

I don't think it is as bad as people make it out to be. There's some things I liked about it. I freakin' love Zimmer's score BTW. I much prefer his stuff in the period piece action movies than his other recent work.

I think there was a very good movie in The Lone Ranger struggling to come out. A lot of the things are done very well -the western setting, the score, the action sequences- but the pace, the length, some character moments just were not right and it damaged the final product.

The movie reminded me a little bit about Shanghai Noon.

I loved it. It was fun, bold, fll of energy and ideas.

This. Although I thought they could have done better with the museum intro (or no intro at all)

I suppose so, although I didn't mind it.

Depp was fairly entertaining (even if he was essentially Jack Sparrow as an Indian). However, the movie was way too long and dragged badly, they made the Lone Ranger look like an idiot, several of the characters (like HBC and Ruth Wilson's characters) were underused, there were weird tonal shifts that didn't work. It was a mess.

So, a sequel?
How much did they lose?

Maybe switch focus to that kid becoming the Lone Hornet, oh right that one bombed too.

Sadly two franchises I love and wanted to see succeed left dead in the water.

Yeah, this will get a sequel when John Carter or The Last Airbender (damn you Shayamalan) get a sequel, as in never.

As much as I loved the movie (and would love to see a sequel) it's highly unlikely at this point. $250 million budget and they barely hit that at the world wide box office...didn't even come close to the ideal 'doubling' the production budget.

The only way I could see a sequel happening is maybe *maybe* if it either does really really REALLY (and I would think it would have to be extremely phenomenal sales) well on home release and/or if Bruckheimer/Verbinski and/or Depp fund it themselves (unlikely they'll get Disney's backing).

John Carter really didn't deserve to bomb, about The Last Airbender, financially it did ´more than enough to get a sequel, but it was so badly critically received that they just won't do another, Michael Bay is the only one who can make a terrible film with bad reputation like Transformers 2 make that much money, which is probably due to the special effects and battles, Airbender didn't have much well done stuff of that.

Or if in some years later it becomes a major cult classic of the likes of Blade Runner
