Extended return of the king is one of my favorite movies ever, with Batman the only one which was close to LotR's level was The Dark Knight, Batman Begins has many some problems, and so does TDKR, but it really enjoy both too.

I saw this and I thought, wow, I really liked most of LOTR, as I did with the Nolan trilogy. But I'm not too familiar with LOTR and Batman is one of my two all time favorite American superheroes.

The first LOTR movie was excellent to me, but Batman Begins was not. The Two Towers was more like the middle episode, nothing too interesting to me (as I'm not too familiar with the books) whereas The Dark Knight was a masterpiece. And Return of the Kind was certainly better than TDKR.

So I checked what I usually rate all of the movies.

BB - 3.5/5
TDK - 5/5
TDKR - 3.5/5

LOTR 1 - 5/5
LOTR 2 - 3/5
LOTR 3 - 4/5

and in both cases the sum of the points is 12, so I guess I like them the same. :)

Lord of the Rings is really brought down by the third movie, which is too long.

Re: LOTR - I was a huge, huge fan of all three books and the first two movies. Massive fan. But that third movie was a total joke. As with every subsequent Peter Jackson movie.

Glad I'm not the obly one who thinks so.

The ending went on and on and on.
It was so anticlimactic for the undead army to kill all those bad guys in five seconds.

LOTR quite easily. While I consider the final films of both trilogies to be weakest of them all, TDKR just irks me in too many ways. What is it with those 3rd films. It's everywhere.

edit: yeah, about ROTK. I didn't even mind the overly long ending and FEELINGS. It just didn't come together. The battle in TTT felt more epic and intense than in ROTK where it was just...out of focus, boring and lacked all grit. The scale did not transfer to the screen, or to my brain. And Gandalf waiting for his death, but when we next see him he's allright counting the bodies in the wild. Guess that green ghost horde just handled everything in a second. The movie lacked focus.

Fellowship > Begins
Towers > Dark Knight
King > Rises

And I love Begins and Dark Knight. I enjoy Rises but less now than I did when it first came out.
