My mom really likes that movie. I think I bought her the dvd a few years back

Any of you guys wear Adidas Laceless Ultra Boosts? Thinking of snagging a pair, but don't know sizing. Not enough stock in stores to try them on myself either.

Is it just me or do the Google Pixel phones get uglier with each iteration?

I have not worn sneakers in so many years, and haven't considered getting myself a new one.

I have a problem, man. I dropped nearly $900 on a pair of Yeezys last year. I'd have way more sneakers if I weren't so indecisive. Been looking at these Ultra Boosts for like 3 or 4 months now.

That price *shivers*. If only these shoes would last nicely over a decade, but that seems unlikely based on my experience with their shoes.

Are you serious? $900 on a pair of shoes?

Haha, trust me I know and I hear it from my friends all the time. I'm an avid sneakerhead though. Trying to build out my collection. The Yeezys had been on my radar for years and they're such a coveted pair that I couldn't resist once I had the cash. I wear them so infrequently though that I'm not worried about them lasting long. I've got a pair of Jordans I spent nearly $300 and they've only seen the outside world like 5 times over 5 years.

Is that US currency?

Yep.

I've had the same $100 pair of nikes for 8 years.

Oldest pair of shoes I have that are still in active rotation are my white Chucks haha. $50 classics that have lasted me 9 years. They've been through the ringer though so it's about that time to replace them.

For $900 there are a lot of things I would buy. A new UHD TV among them and I'd probably still have some cash left over. :o

I have a pair of Reebok cross trainers from 1994. Still in great condition, because I only use them for indoor gym stuff.

Why on earth did the phrase "there are many ways to skin a cat" became a thing?

Y'all English speakers are weird, man.

At that point in my life, the shoes were the only thing I really wanted. Now, I'd probably fly to Tokyo or something.

Damn man, that's incredible. I don't think I could even like a pair of shoes for that long haha.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought the most expensive hobby in the world an average person can get into is avidly buying comic books.

That's a good question. I'm still looking for the answer to that.

I've seen a few theories before and it probably comes down to a mistranslation from another language. Though even then you have to wonder how they mistranslated that.

It comes from a long time ago when hunters would skin and cut up their catch to sell at market....sometimes people would catch and sell cats claiming they were other small game.

I have collected a lot of various things in my lifetime....never even came close to $900 for any of it.

That's just one of the origin stories for that idiom. Another says it originated in the British Navy. When a sailor did something wrong they'd be whipped with a cat o' nine. So sailors would say "Dont let the cat out of the bag."

Where Did the Expression "Let the Cat Out of the Bag" Come From?
That's cool. Never heard the navy connection before. The country folk around here talk about people trying to sneak cats in as raccoons or such. I've had a bunch of acquaintences from the Smokey Mountains talk about hat.

In spanish being scammed is called getting "gato por liebre", getting a cat for a hare.

I guess cats had to be very cheap and commonplace back then.
