Oh, I definitely don't want a clone of Jack's, Joker. At the same time, I don't want a Joker who is void of what makes him the Joker. His sense of humor.

I don't know about that, I was actually surprised by the amount of devilish playfulness and sadistic sense of humor Ledger showed in the trailer. That's actually what I loved about the trailer: one scene the Joker is completely psychotic, the other scene The Joker is playful, but in a devil kind of way.

His sense of humor is not as obvious as Jack or Cesar's, it's more subtle. And that's more appropriate in Nolan's movies. W/C is great because i really don't want to laugh at the Joker in this movie with his antics and actions, it's been done before, I want to hate him for thinking of the world as a joke and thinking that mass murdering is a laughing matter.

I wholeheartedly agree with the second part. I'm glad the Joker's sense of humor is like this.

I want to laugh at the Joker's actions...but I want to be ashamed for laughing a few seconds later. In my eyes that is the perfect Joker. Does that make any sense?

I like to think Ledger is right on with the Joker's sense of humor. In that journal he was keeping he made a list of things that joker would find funny. AIDS was on there for crying out loud. it sounds like this joker is not devoid of a sense of humor, rather he just has the sickest, most demented sense of humor possible.

Exactly.

Like your signature, dude.

yes it does. That's called "love to hate that character". And nolan has achieved that in the trailer I believe.

After watching the trailer over and over and OVER again, I have come to this conclusion: despite the odd and untraditional appearance of the Joker, I am absolutely in LOVE with him in this film. Nolan and Ledger have crafted something genuinely new and exciting, and I can't wait!

Still, I hope this movie belongs to Bale. He is my favorite, after all.

It makes sense, but the problem is humor can ultimately ruin a creepy character that is given a much darker treatment. I also heard quite a few laughs during the prologue preview that I watched on Youtube.

Joker's humor seems more subtle and dry, which I feel is perfect for this particular film. When I see Joker I want to be afraid of him I want him to make kids cry and have nightmares. Although I do think he will be showcasing some interesting humor that makes him The Joker. Let's not forget about him hanging out of the window of a moving police car, making a quip to Rachel, his interaction with the bank manager, his clapping in the jail, and the way he reacts after he shoots an RPG was classic as well.

Yeah, from what weve seen so far (putting a grenade inside somebody's stomach, the bus driver scene, Rachel dawes confrontation, Nurse Joker), Heath's Joker is going to try to be funny (he's Joker after all), but we won't laugh as much as he does with his antics because he scares us more than he makes us laugh. I think that's great.

I've been trying to master the Joker's laugh, this is no picnic. How do they do it? Is it done with computers? Or is Ledger really laughing?

i think its just ledger laughing. no way would nolan settle for computer effects. i think ledger is just truly unhinged.

I think he's really laughing..and I think it's part of his smoking voice. If that makes sense..

It may well be Ledger laughing. He strikes me as a tenor, and a tenor could conceivably reach those pitches doing the right kind of laugh.

Yeah, I can't do his laugh at all. I can do both his speaking voices, but not his laugh.

sometimes when im alone in my apartment's elevator or in the shower, i try the voice. it's getting pretty close. i just dont want my roommates/girlfriend hearing me do it.

I can kind of do the laugh where in the trailer its just going to all kinds of scenes and then the one of him driving, where he laughs three times. But dang, thats amazing if you can do it, if Ledger just laughs like that, thats awesome. I've been practicing but to no avail. My family thinks I'm going crazy.

This is like...completely unrelated, but can someone post or PM me the BOO THIS MAN gif? i love it and i cant seem to track it down.

oh and so this post actually has a BIT of relevance...I think Joker is almost dead on perfection in this movie. The amount of people i know who had no idea that was even him on screen makes it so satisfying, because thats what TRUE acting should do for the audience.

Maybe you are. Most of us are.

Yeah, I always do it when everybody's asleep or I'm by myself or there's a lot of noise around me.

Man, I do it all the time, in public, in front of my family, in the hallways at school. Everybody just looks at me weird and I tell them, "Why So Serious?" HAHAHA!
