considering spider-man was originally red and black.... and there are red and black spiders... we have.

i'm just considering all the alternate realities and what ifs we have seen somewhere along the lines i would have liked to see a brown spider costume

it was original black? what the heck are you talking about?

it was red and black, instead of red and blue

it used the old comic highlighting formula of using blue highlights for black (like venom and the symbiote, and black cat) have had. This later caught on and was just used as his second color.

well... it's officially black.. every first appearance spider-man figure or statue, has always been black. it just has blue highlights, like i've explained. Surely black panther and black cat never really had "blue" costumes.

it's officially not black, its' officially blue, even if it looks "black". unless ofcourse you can provide evidence that the original color was meant to be black.

it's cheaper to color black than blue, it's only natural that they would cut corners on the colors as much as possible. but if it was black in the story itself or if stan lee/kirby originally painted it black, then fair enough. the picture itself or toys aren't really good enough.

actually considering that black costume came out by toybiz (which was owned by marvel), and was the collector line (not random kiddie line) That says alot right there...

but it's also been an artists taste. (click classic)

Spidey wasn't the first character to get an instant color change either... so did hulk (who's grey sometimes printed purple).

a qoute from someone who better explained it.
Considering that Spider-Man’s suit is actually Red and Black…not Red and Blue. It was originally….Red and Black (blue highlights are a comic liability/stylistic issue…)but, the blue highlights took over, till the suit was depicted as Red and Blue with black shadows.

Black re-intrepreted as blue.
The same thing happened to The Batman; Black Bolt; Black Canary; Black Panther; the Beast (grey to blue); all of whom are not dressed in blue.

To give in to this is to give up and just depict Wonder Woman and Superman as having blue hair.

Red and Blue makes no sense for the character. The original Red and Black costume evokes spidery colors like the black with red marking ‘black widow spider’ and is in keeping with Spider-Man’s original sinister appearance.
