The MARVEL characters REDESIGN thread

It's so hard to re-design The Hulk lol, I've never even thought of trying it until now. I don't know what I would do differently, without doing an entirely new take on it. Like giving him some sort of uniform, and/or making him more deformed looking. Let's face it, everything else who came close to gamma rays turned into a disgusting freak lmao, Hulk is just an oversized green human.

A bunch of us over at Bendis' board have been doing redesigns. Each week we get a new character to revamp. Here's some examples of what we've come up with:

Possible spoilers in my description of the costume here:

The director has said that his costume is based on the USO costume the army makes him wear, which is based heavily on Kirby's WWII costume. He wears the USO costume and is seen on the battle field by the troops wearing it. This inspires them and he becomes a symbol.Steve later alters the costume for to be used in combat. We have been told that the costume will make the red stripes straps.
So my thinking is, why would he change his costume that he is known for so much? My thinking is he merely alters it somewhat for combat. So we could get a movie costume very true to the comic version.

His mask would be a reinforced helmet, with molded forhead and eyebrow ridge (giving his eyebrows a more heroic look too).

His wings on his mask would not be wings that stick out, but they would not just be painted on. They would be like patches, or relief, where they are somewhat 3D, but not completely. That would include the wings without making them too out there for some viewers I think.
In his WWII costume, the one he wears in the first film based on the Kirby USO show costume, his neck is exposed. But his collar could look something like this. The WWII helmet would strap on under his chin like one of the Ultimate versions. (when Cap is revived in modern times his neck area would no longer be exposed.) The helmet/neck/chain mail would all be different material. The helmet would be somewhat like Batman's in Dark Knight, somewhat. The neck would be a lighter cloth material, while the chain mail would be thicker armor. The chain mail would start at his shoulder area sort of.
Side note, I was watching the technology of Batman and they mentioned this real life military armor using ceramic plating or something. Maybe his chain mail armor could be reinforced ceramic plating (whatever they were talking about on that tech of batman).
The armpit areas would not have the chain mail plating, like the Ultimate version of Cap, in order to allow more comfort and move ability during combat. But unlike the Ultimate version, the armpit area would be blue. Made of the same material as his pants and collar/neck area on his costume.
His gloves and boots would have straps and buckles to keep them in place. His boots would fold over the straps and buckles to look like the pirate boots. (Or they could do the Hitch idea and have the red material over his combat boots.)
Like the director said, the red stripes would be straps. So the white material would be a lighter fabric while the straps would be thick leathery material. The straps would connect the chain mail armor to the belt. His belt would have pouches.
So his costume would have a few layers, the white shirt/blue costume/chain mail, which would help the look be visually interesting for the movie.
For the chain mail I would use John Cassaday's design, for the molded eyebrow mask too

Things I could live without would be:
The exposed neck area, the pouches on the gloves, and the Captains ranking on his collar. All those I added but could do without, the exposed neck however was a tribute to Kirby's original design from Captain America #1 where he is punching Hitler.

By the way, the scales I went a little crazy on but it was meant to show that each is an individual hard protective scale. Not a pattern on a shirt and not a lighter material.

Pretty decent idea Sean and really good render:up:

Love the digital camo on Captain America's arms (bicep/tricep area) in that movie costume concept art

I just said it in the DC Redesign thread...I can't believe this thread is still around. I like the armored Cap movie design. Nice work whoever did that.
