Days of Future Past The Master of Magnetism: The Ian McKellen Thread

He stole every scene he was in. When he went out to fight the Sentinels at the end, it was like Mariano Rivera coming out of the bullpen.

OK, now someone needs to do a re-edit that scene with an Enter Sandman soundtrack. :funny:

Young, old, does not matter:Magneto is my favourite character of the whole franchise.

Whenever he started sealing the entrance back into the temple with the wall of metal. :waa:

As many cool scenes as he had in this, none of them topped my top two magneto scenes. (Yes, they are from the Last Stand, heresy I know)
1. When Callisto asks him in the church, "Where's your mark" and he says "I have been marked by humans once already, No needle shall ever touch my skin again."
2. "Charles Xavier did more for mutantkind than you will ever know. My single greatest regret is that he couldn't be here today" (or something similar)

I LOVE both of these scenes, specially the first one.

OMG I KNOW!!! Such a great scene but nothing tops his scene with Charles when they shake hands one last time. That line and the delivery of it. Even when it was used in the trailers I used to get emotional and even more so during the movie. All thos years wasted fighting each other Charles. So powerful. It is also because it's Ian. He is amazing.

I love his cape :hrt:

Yeah his cape is great in this. His cape was way too big/long in X3 but it's perfect in this.

I LOVE both of these scenes, specially the first one.

To bad they kind of turned him into an idiot in that film. Also, I thought that "all those years wasted fighting each other Charles. To have a precious few of them back" was a pretty damn good line.

That scene where he knew the sentinels was coming and he just walked out was badass. Then he levitated the X-jet and stopped the shrapnel and debris in mid-air was EPIC! Really emotional when he shook hands with Charles. Question? Was it ever addressed why future Magneto couldn't control the sentinels?

Well the original Sentinels in the 70's were not made from metal so I guess the future ones wouldnt be either, even if they looked more metal like.

Quick question - when Magneto was hit by shrapnel did he walk backwards through Blink's portal or did he fall through it?

That whole scene was really powerful, the first time in the series I saw them as two vulnerable old men, instead of powerful leader figures. I teared up with the handshake.

I have a question too: Did McKellen's Magneto die?

As far as I recall, he shook hands with Charles, sort of gasped, then the Sentinels immediately came into the monastery.

They never lingered on him in any way to suggest he was dead, but when the Sentinels came in they never focused on him in any way to suggest he was still alive and we just saw Xavier turning to face them.

Never thought of that but wasn't it said that the sentinels were made of magnetized plates? I guess Magneto should have just jammed some of that X-Jet debris into the future sentinels and re-wire their circuit system since he suddenly became an expert of electronics in this film.:o

I think Magneto turned to face the Sentinels as well at that point.

I think he was about to die but everything was fixed before he did.

I loved seeing McKellan as Magneto again. I really liked when he helped to repel the Sentinels through the air and when he had his touching exchange with Charles after being wounded. He puts enormous power into all of his performances.

Love that whole scene when magneto back walks through blinks portal then falls on the wall, and iceman is like oh ****! such a powerful scene. question was blink warpath and storm looking at him when he was pulling out a pieace of the sentinel from his stomach?

I think so, they were all ok but then realized Magento was hurt. Defiantly one of the best scenes in the movie

And I think I only saw three shots coming from the Sentinels before they all disappeared: one heading for Kitty, one heading for Wolverine, and the other heading towards Charles. Maybe Magneto was already dead by then?

Future Magneto never stole the plans for the Sentinels like the past one did so he wouldnt of known how to.:oldrazz:

He didn't die.

There's a shot of him and Kitty looking at the Sentinels.

I don't remember him dying either, and I've seen it 3 times. But he would've died anyway from losing so much blood.

God, I love McKellen's Magneto. Fassbender is amazing as well but no one beats McKellen. When the sentinels were coming and he walked out with his cape flowing, so badass.
