During the interview, Keiji Inafune shares some thoughts on the criticism behind
Mighty No. 9s delay, along with some of the ideas behind its development. He also talks a bit about what he sees differently in
Mighty No. 9 compared to the
Mega Man games that made him famous.
He then talks about making
Mighty No. 9 into a franchise or series. Inafune explains that if he were still working for Capcom or any other big company, he wouldnt be able to talk about it, but since hes part of an indie company, and its his own IP, he can say that theyre already thinking about a sequel.
The director of
Mighty No. 9 is already writing some of the scripts and gathering some ideas for the sequel. While they dont know when yet, they say that there will definitely be a sequel.
Inafune then talks about his thoughts on the Japanese gaming industry, as he was previously pretty critical of it in the past, and is asked if his thoughts of changed on the matter. According to the
Mega Man creator, he feels that Japanese developers must take on bigger challenges, but it requires courage. He feels that the challenge of go big or go home isnt exactly quite there in Japan, and reiterates that its what needs the courage.
Mighty No. 9 will release in North America on February 9th, 2016, and around the world on February 12, 2016 for PlayStation4, PlayStation3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
