The Dark Knight The Monorail

Id like to see the monorail again in this film, but so far we havent seen one shot of it, youd think Bruce would have it re-built since his father took pride in it so much.

you can't rebuild something in a few months. especially in a city like Gotham

how do we even know the time-span? From the leaked new trailer Joker mentions "a year ago" about the lawyers and such, its probably possible to have it re-built in a year if that is the timespan.

That would be possible, but at the end of Batman Begins the Joker is already 'busy'. Why would Batman wait a year to go after him? Or why
would there be a year between BB and TDK for that matter? Probably not just because of the monorail. :cwink: And Bruce Wayne is in his penthouse, so they're still rebuilding Wayne Manor. There can't be much time between BB and TDK. No more than a few months, max.

I only say that because of what The Joker says in the new trailer, I mean before Batman Gotham was totally corrupt, then batman shows up and gives the city hope and starts to clean things up, so theres no real way of knowing the time-span until we see the film, and hopefully it explains it a bit to clear things up. Im not sure either, but im interested in finding out though.

Off topic, but for those of you who didn't know...Phil Hartman didn't die. He was murdered by his wife.

anywho...yeah, I would think the monorail would be in the same condition as Wayne Manor (i.e. under construction and, therfore, not important at this point and time in the story)

So when someone gets murdered they don't die? :p I think you mean he didn't die by his own hand or of natural causes.

Well of course they die, but there's a difference between "dying" and "being killed." I just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page, especially since someone on the first page of this thread didn't know Phil was dead in the first place.

That's all. And it's VERY unfortunate no matter how you look at it...:(

Very true. Phil Hartman's death was bad enough, but I think someone being murdered by their own wife adds something horrifying. I'm also a huge fan.

For those who don't know who he is:

"You may remember him from such series as NewsRadio and The Simpsons."

Thats Scarry, I never knew that. I don't want a wife like that.

It would seem kind of pointless to build up the monorail as Thomas Wayne's legacy in BATMAN BEGINS and then have Bruce not bother to rebuild it, and not feature it again in the sequel.

I said he went out the hard way, his death was more violent than Heath's. Heath died of a tragic accident that could have been prevented. But Hartman died because his wife was a crazy *****.

I dont care if the Monorail is seen again in TDK because it is a familiar landmark from BB, and so seeing it again would be a nice touch...

However, I don't want the monorail to be deployed as a plot device again. I don't want Gotham City's Monorail to be like the X-Mansion's Cerebro...

remember, both X-Men 1 and X-Men 2 made Cerebro a vital part of the villain's plan. It was kinda annoying...

I think the monorail will be broken still.

Oh, and anyone else get true Star Wars parallels to this new Batfranchise? But reversed:

A New Hope - Batman Begins: Death Star destroyed by film's end / Wayne Manor destroyed by film's end.

Empire - Dark Knight: Darker, no Death Star, but a temporary residence / Darker, no Manor, but a temporary residence

Return - Next Bat-film: Vader dies, Death Star destroyed in middle of being rebuilt / Batman dies, Wayne Manor destroyed again in middle of being rebuilt...Both films: Furry animals dance.

was batman standing over debris from the monorail in the new trailer
