*Reads Joker II spoilers*

With this knowledge, I firmly believe this will be @SwordOfMorning reaction when the credits begin to roll:

No. That only applies to stars.

She either signed on without reading the script or read the script and signed on. Both would be her fault. She's a crazy rich woman. This isn't some sort of tragedy.
If Chris Hemsworth signs on for the next Thor I’ll be happier if the film does well and as a fan of his, happier for him. Whether he got paid megabucks or was somehow coerced into it by his daughter is his business and I probably wouldn’t know. Again not asking anyone else to care if they aren’t fans or are satisfied as long as they got paid well. The artistic merit of the film and legacy it leaves is also important to me beyond getting paid and choosing roles freely.

Yeah, she was the one chasing an Oscar nom, so I'm not entirely sure why we should feel bad for her here.

And I saw a better context of the Joker 2 ending, and dear god, it is going to have terrible wom.
Todd Phillips should have done "A Clown is Born" with a Bonnie and Clyde twist.

Outside of TDK, how many DC sequels are considered superior to the original film? Is there one with general consensus?
If you consider TSS as a sequel I guess that would be the only one. It was way before my time but I wonder how people felt about Superman 2.

I think bringing up artistic merit in this conversation is strange, because of what this project always clearly was. We aren't talking about someone fighting to create art here. This isn't a I Saw the TV Glow or even a Barbie situation. We're talking about a movie the director didn't even want to make. They had to back up dump trucks of money to him and Phoenix's homes, to get them to do this. This is the film industry at it's worse. Throwing money for the simple sake of making more money. That's what Gaga signed onto.

We're gonna learn it was Zaslav who pushed Gaga and the musical idea. :o

I love Superman 2, but I've never seen it considered to be better then Superman with any mass consensus. Batman Returns is probably closer to that, and even then, not really close.

I don’t disagree with any of that. My original post was just as a fan who had temporary optimism (misplaced) out of the blue when she got cast for a project I had zero interest in, now being less happy that she’s got involved in said turkey (even if she benefits significantly in other ways that I don’t know about or haven’t thought of). After some of the trailers and set pics I got interested and I didn’t know the backstory behind all this at the time as I had zero interest and hadn’t paid any attention to it.

I get you. I honestly can't feel sympathy for insanely rich folk over stuff like this. Harassment? 100%. But a bad flick that was clearly meant to be a promotional vehicle? I wish I was that lucky.

Mince meat pizza (or bolognese, if it's saucier) is probably top 3 most popular pizzas here, with tuna, and Hawaiian. Finnish people aren't exactly connoseurs of good pizza.
Yeah, I'm really boring. Cheese with extra pepperoni. That's it. :funny:

Indeed. Like Todd Phillips himself had baked the damn thing.

Phillips didn’t have the foresight to read the chat today or he might have done a much better job with the pizza at least.

Sounds awesome. This is another tragedy as Finland was one of my first holidays without parents or school friends and I missed out on these glorious combos. I also should have had the foresight to already know you at that point (20 something years ago) and get the lowdown on pizza intel for the area. :csad: Really enjoyed the holiday though, great place.

Are we talking about a second film compared to the first one and are we speaking strictly about hardcore fans? Because to be fair, overall, The Dark Knight Rises has better audience scores and reviews than Batman Begins pretty much everywhere. I know there's a big chunk of people who consider it the weakest link in the trilogy but general audience mostly praise it.

That's a really good point. Though I guess it's technically a sequel to both Begins and TDK, and TDK really does feel like the consensus pinnacle of the series.

It's fun to think about. So many here over the years have talked about TDKR like it's Catwoman. :funny:

To be fair, TDK is the hardest CBM of all to follow. The hype for a Nolan trilogy capper especially for someone known for ending films well was always going to be super-tough to match, and any negatives would get unfairly inflated. I liked it a ton from the second time I saw it with all the hype out the way.

I don't disagree. And TDKR is flawed. But I also think that a large portion of the Bat fandom is just a bit loco. :funny:

TDKR isn't Catwoman to me. But I do think it is bad.

On this DC sequels better then the originals topic, I cannot think of any examples outside of TDK and The Suicide Squad as far as fan consensus goes, and even TSS had a massive drop in interest movie 1 to 2 so that may not be true of the general public either

If it makes people feel better, Reddit hates Zoe Kravitz Catwoman and think she's the weakest link in The Batman. :p
