Yeah i think Gunn’s got a big ol hit with this one. This is a crowd pleaser. Its VERY comic booky and geeky at times but Gunn just knows how to make a four quadrant movie.

I'm going to have so many questions!
And the answer to all of them is

I'm not gonna go spoilery just yet in this thread for a few days until more people have seen it but I will say, it's easily better than Superman Returns and Man of Steel. (But we already knew that 😉)

Corenswet is charming as hell. Second best cinematic Clark after Reeve IMO but bold opinion incoming: Brosnahan is the best cinematic Lois and Hoult is the best cinematic Luthor. Not like there was a lot of competition with the latter but he was so much fun to hate.

If Fantastic Four is as fun a time as this, it'll be a much needed boost for the genre.

And if nothing else, a movie about a lovable illegal immigrant taking on a corrupt billionaire is the movie we need right now.

Yeah, that last bit is not what I heard at all and now I don't know if I want to see it.

Is it true they turned Jor-El into a villain? One who sent Clark to take wives because the folks are weak? Because that's just the most racist, xenophobic, whitest movie possible.

That wasn't what I got from that scene unless I missed something. I thought that was the part that was fabricated by Lex.

Glad you had a good time!

Just one spoiler question for your old pal, since I won't be able to go to Metropolis until next week....

Any mentions or foreshadowing of Batman? I already heard about Supergirl.

Going out on a Tuesday, you're showing off good sir. :o

What I heard from others, multiple people, is that the message is not altered in anyway, and that they bring up that question multiple times, and it's confirmed to be authentic including by Mr. Terrific. That Lex's crew were able to fix it.

Does the movie end with Clark looking at his "real family" and it's no the Els but just the Kents?

DAMN, i just watched dan Murrell’s review and i wasnt prepared for that. He actually said this shares several similarities to Snyder’s version.

Wow. I usually am in lock step with Dan’s thoughts and analysis on films but damn i was taken aback by this one.

There wasn't really anything about Clark addressing that message or coming to terms with that afterwards from what I remember. I could be mistaken but I thought it was Lex and the Engineer manipulating that part of the message. And the movie does end that way, I just took it as it being the Kents at the end and not Jor-El and Lara because they raised Clark.

Nothing I saw except for a road sign above a tunnel leading out of Metropolis that said "Gotham City", which could mean Gotham could be hundreds of miles away or just across the river like in BvS.

Trust me, I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't a sneak preview. I was just happy and shocked that there were only two trailers shown before the movie (2 Wicked 2 Furious and Fantastic Four).

I of course haven't seen it. Not sure I will now. But Drizzle, what you just said, think about the implications of what you just wrote.

The immigrant child who was soothed by the voice of his bio parents, no longer is soothed by it but his white as hell country folk parents who instilled different, better values in him.

If it's never addressed beyond what I wrote, then that means Clark doesn't see the Els as his family anymore. Especially if he never deals with the message beyond that. That's so racist. Like insanely racist. It's basically making the Els Middle Eastern terrorist who sent their son to conquer and take many brides and other BS like that.

Now you can tie all that together masterfully (and correctly) without even seeing the movie, but can't see why Jake Schreier making X-Men is a problem. :o

Like a 6? A lot of them seemed like they were cut.

I understand all that. Even moreso now looking through spoilers on Reddit about it. This turns everything on its head because I seriously thought that part of it was fabricated and I guess in my mind I went into denial mode and just figured Clark wanted to focus on the Kents more. Damn.

There's still a lot to like about the movie but that particular Jor-El aspect is a choice.

This movie could do a lot of things wrong and I'd live. But as soon as I heard this in the leaks a few months back it was like the one thing that could actually ruin this for me. That it goes as far as it does really murders any hype I had.
