X-Men being played by unknowns would be fine to me. The mutants themselves are the names and they all have voracious fans.

The problem is the Evolution route they’re seemingly going. Teenage X-Men didn’t work for Fox so I don’t know why they think that’s the move now.

And yeeeah Blade not being a priority…

For you GenZers, this is like X-Men meets Victorious. :o

The new X-Men being played by mostly unknowns is pretty much exactly how it was for the original movie back in 2000. There wasn't a soul who knew who Hugh Jackman was before X-Men. Back then the most recognizable names in the cast were a toss up between Patrick Stewart and Halle Berry. I also knew who Famke Janssen was because of Goldeneye, Ray Park because of The Phantom Menace and I guess Rebecca Romijn from The Spy Who Shagged Me but besides them that movie was my intro to everyone else, including one of my favorite actors.

So we get 2 Shakespeareans to play Charles and Erik again. :o

So it looks like Jurassic will be the global July winner and Superman will be the domestic winner.

Glad all 3 did well though. Nice healthy month at the box office for a change! :wowe:

Flick all I’m saying is, my rewatch viewing for The Fantastic Four today was packed. It ain’t over til it’s over. And I will not admit defeat. :sneeze:

No but seriously, I’m glad for all as well. As long as people are going to the movies and supporting the genre, it’s a win.

Rewatched Ant-Man Quantumania for the first time since I saw it in theaters and it was not a good time and kind of irrelavant now since they're moving away from Kang :funny:

Listen, all I know is that @Shinobi Shaw was very wrong about how his beloved Fantastic Four would perform. Not beating Supes. Certainly not winning the Summer as was the original prediction. If the ban is off the table, then at the very least he should be forced to go to gambling rehab with @kguillou until they can both solve this issue :o

Is it? :o

I obviously like superhero movies hanging around here, but honestly, I feel like the way the general audience has cooled on the genre and especially the MCU model of an interconnected universe content farm is for the best.

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. It's been nice to see other genres re-asserting themselves and a more discerning audience will hopefully drive up the quality of those superhero films that are still made.

Personally, my hope is to see more of a return to filmmaker-driven solo franchises like Nolan's or Reeves' Batman trilogies.

I could always just do what I do to you and forcibly change his Avvy and user title to something embarassing? :hehe:

And DK, we all like what we like, I feel you completely. I’m of the mind that we’ve had so many of the solo franchises the likes of Nolan’s and Reeves’ that these recent MCU crossovers are a fun and refreshing to me.

I still don’t understand why people think it’s hard to have filmmaker-driven solo franchises and then bring them together for the occasional crossover. You can do both if you sprinkle some connective tissue in there.

But I say all that to say, FF was the better film than Supes and let’s argue. :sneeze:
