The Naked Fun in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

After that they got Mickey Rourke and James Spader and gave us absolute waste-of-space Whiplash and a very disappointing Ultron (supposed to be a fave of Whedon  ). Oh and Christopher Eccleston and Malekith. Phase 2 also had Yellowjacket and the Mandarin fakeout (Slattery hilarious looking back, but would have been ridiculous if that was the only Mandarin ever making it to love action :funny: ). Killian’s reception seemed mixed, but I don’t care what anyone says about Justin Hammer, I thought he was hilarious. :beaming:

Outside of just villains, I wasn’t confident my MCU interest was going to survive long term at that point, but TWS & Guardians really saved the day for me.
I didn't like how the "Age of Ultron" ultimately amounted to being a couple of days but I did like Spader's performance enough to the point where it kind of saved the character for me. Funny enough, I actually enjoyed the Ultron that we saw in What If? Season 1 even though he wasn't voiced by Spader.

I forgot about Justin Hammer, he was one of the few bright spots of Iron Man 2. They need to bring Sam Rockwell back.

Not to switch gears, but just making an observation from Twitter, you guys are right.

Those Star Wars fans put the ICK in toxic. I can see the MCU fandom steadily getting there.

But again I digress.

Well, I guess this is how I find out that The Acolyte's been cancelled. The most surprising thing about that is how soon it happened since it only finished airing a month ago. Disney usually lets things die off quietly after a while as opposed to being up front about it so soon.

Dude and then on Jacinto’s birthday of all days.

They handle business like that and I’m supposed to believe this guy doesn’t run that company?

Show deserved to be canceled, it was god awful. That said, I hope it opens up opportunities for Jacinto. Get him in a cool action film like one of the upcoming John Wick spinoffs or anything that'll actually take advantage of his talents.

The streaming numbers were awful and they probably didn't want cast and crew fielding questions about a s2.

Yeah, it was a mercy that they didn't drag it out.
Sad they did it on Manny's birthday. Right after he had a panel at D23. :weeping:

But as a Star Wars fan, I'm happy it's done. For all the issues I've had with the live action shows outside of Andor and the first two seasons of the Mando, I'd take a second season of the others in a heartbeat over whatever the hell the Acolyte is.

Hypothetical question for all of you:

If you were casting a live action Shrek 2, who would you cast as Handsome Human Shrek?
