The Naked Fun in The Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

I feel bad for the runner-up, Asa Butterfield, as well, who I think is a massively superior actor and would probably have made an even better Spider-Man. Poor guy is almost thirty and resorting to a goatee and ear ring to try and look older so people will stop casting him as teenagers:

DK... no.

It seems a lot of folk got a superhero flick they were looking for this year. So what are everyone's top 5 superhero flicks post the world ending?

In no particular order (although MoM is probably still first in my heart):

I know you said film, but X-Men 97 and WandaVision are both my two favorite post Covid projects ever. Without question.

1.) The Batman
2.) Superman
3.) Across the Spider-Verse
4.) Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3

I can’t really think of a 5th that I unabashedly loved (unless we count Werewolf By Night), so I guess Thunderbolts would sneak in there despite me being bored as hell by the first half? 🤷‍♀️

Thunderbolts first hour is at least 10 mins too long. Take too damn long to escape that bunker. :funny:

There was definitely a moment where the thought crossed my mind of, “oh god are we in this bunker for the rest of the movie???” And then I remembered all the footage from the trailers I hadn’t seen yet and that was a mild consolation, but yeah, wasn’t a great feeling lol.

Curious why they went with the First Steps sub for F4. Didn't really feel like anything about it seemed to fit. Wonder if they were just looking for anything to avoid two (actually 3) movies with the exact same time.
I think it was a reference to First Steps as in First Steps of man in space, they did say Reed and co conquered space and that's a very 60s thing, but also has the double meaning referring to their child and their first steps as parents.

Probably wasn't necessary as a title, but does differentiate it from the other ones

I had this exact same thought while watching it the first time. Felt almost too deliberate. Wonder if the original idea was maybe one other location before losing Bob, but they saved some money cutting down on locations.

I mean it was absolutely primarily to differentiate from the previous movies, but also, I can only assume there was more with Franklin in the original cut that made the double meaning of “it’s baby’s first steps…and ours!” more cutesy.

I do not remember the last time I watched a movie where the stucture was so obviously changed. Like with Superman you can kind of tell they cut some material and the cards. But that's pretty standard. F4? I feel like 30 mins are missing and it resulted in some real restructing.

Just realized you only need to wait 11 months and you'll most likely have your 5th. Or more likely #3.

I literally had typed out “ @Snow Queen hasn’t posted her list yet” before I saw this. :funny:

So Flick riddle me this.

The Anti-Monitor says that he will use his anti-matter wave to zap MAWS, Superman & Lois and Superman 2025, but he also allows you the opportunity to save just one.

Which one do you save?
