Okay, so I got a letter in the mail from this national society of academic scholars. Apprently I have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. The letter said it increases opportunites for college and provides scholarships, etc. At first I was skeptical of it all. But after checking out the site it seems legit. I mean freaking Ed Harris is in it.

So anyway, does joining something like this incease my chances of getting into a college I want? There's an entrance fee of 60 bucks which got me suspicious.

Here's the site:

So all in all, do you think it's worth it all? I don't know it all seems it somehow won't be to me. But I need something given I don't do sports. So it's something to add to an application and look good?

Any of you guys here involved in this society?

I got a letter similar to that when I was in high school. It's a scam.

I bet Ed Harris is in on the scam too!

Most schools have a National Honor Society club. If you are part of it, then that's good enough. This, though, I'm sure is a scam.

Ah, yes that is what I was thinking of.

Yeah, I wouldn't get involved with anything that your school doesn't already support.

If it weren't a scam, they wouldn't be charging you.

You're probably all right. My parents and I were suspicious of it being a scam anyway.

****. I might have to talk to my counselor about it.

I got one a few months ago. I kept it and was going to talk to my guidance counselor about it, but forgot about it and then threw it away.

Most things that charge are usually scams.

Nailed it. I'm a member of my school's honor society, and recieved one of these offers in the mail last year. It's just a scam.

A worthy investment is what you put into it. What is life without risks? Take the plunge. Go for it. Where's the beef?

etc...
