The Dark Knight The new and improved Mr. Reese thread

You guys are right. Reese should totally be The Riddler. He out-acted Bale in TDK, and commanded the screen whenever he was on. In fact, whenever he wasn't on the screen, I just kept thinking "When are we going to see what Reese is doing? I don't care what Joker is saying."

Agreed...Ben Sturky from Thats So Raven is obviously the right guy to follow academy award nominated actor Heath Ledger as The Riddler, one of the more popular Batvillains.

And we all know that the Riddler starts off as a spineless lawyer with no signs of above average intelligence whos only in it for some cash...

It was a nice little subplot, but it's ludicrous to say that this person will become the Riddler. Why would you guys even want that? This guy following Ledger's Joker as the next Batman villain? Please.

If Reese shows up in B3 at all, it's as cannon fodder for a Riddler who is pissed that somebody figured out Batman's identity before he did.

I think many of us are just reading too much into the character. He's not a very bright fellow...certaintly not villain material. :)

Yeah I really think Reese was just a throw away character put in the movie just to give the joker a reason to blow up a hospital

I found it to be very strange that every time the character we knew as "Reese" was on screen he was refered to as "Mr. Reese".

He knows a big secret, and has a slimly villanous way about him.

Let's re-evaluate the character now that we've seen the film and discuss;

Why would he be "snooping around"?

He went straight to Mike Engel, who we know from the GCN viral, isnt a Batman supporter.

And finally, why is he refered to only as "Mister Reese"?

Hmmm, Mr Reese...Mis...ter...eese...Mysterious? And what did Michael Gough teach us in Batman Forever?

TELL ME

Mr. Reese served his purpose for the movies. As much as I want to see the Riddler (rather see the penguin but hey...) Mr. Reese is not going to be the Riddler.

We think he knows who Batman is, but for all we know he could have gotten on TV and said Batman was Lucious or the buff janitor in the R&D department. And even if he did figure out it was Bruce, it dosen't make him the smartest man in the world. He was already disdainful towards Bruce because of him sleeping in the meetings which lead him to try to find stuff in his companies files that could get him a quick pay day. His thinking was "this guys getting paid millions for doing nothing, so why can't I?" I'm pretty sure he would have tried to blackmail the company over a clerical error had he found one. He's just a worm, plain and simple.

I'm not ruling out that he might be in the next Batman film as a minor character, but I HIGHLY doubt that he will be a villian, just dosen't work.

The Joker would've blown up the hospital even if Reese was killed. Heck, I wouldn't have been surprised if he had a dead-man's switch on the guy.

By that you mean a zany campy Riddler?
Jim Carrey was awesome as the riddler, it was fun.

Im talking about this gay riddler

Pay attention to the interesting, different bad tie designs Coleman Reese wears. It's Riddler-esque.

Also, him being the Riddler makes him an element of the possible 3rd story not the main focus. He could be an interesting aspect. And the fact that there is depth makes it more intriguing.

This could just be a conspiracy theory but...

In BB Joker is mentioned as the next villain with the whole calling card thing and Bruce has a two face line.

In TDK They have the possibility of seting up Reese becoming Riddler *maybe* and they have the cat line leading to the possibility of Catwoman. Both of them seem logical and I could see them in the Nolanverse.

Don't flame me, I'm just saying it's possible

My first post :D:
People, it seems that what would be the plot for TDK sequel has leaked, but I don't know if it could be fake. BIG SPOILERS:

--------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------
In the space of time between TDK and the sequel, Mr.Reese has been murdered. By who? Do you remember the cop that The Joker kills in the hospital before talking with Harvey? Well, it seems that a familiar of the cop blames Reese for his death because when the body is found the police thinks he has died because of the hospital explosion. Of course there are only a few "pieces" of the cop found and he is identified by his DNA, nobody knows Joker shot him before the explosion. The cop familiar thinks that the hospital exploded because Reese went to TV to tell everybody Batman's identity, and Joker, to stop him, made all the "I'm going to destroy an hospital if the guy doesn't die in 60 minutes" thing. Reese was an intelligent guy, he discovered Batman's identity, "the great riddle". And had very little moral and much ambition, he tried to blackmail B.Wayne. Well, it seems that there is somebody more intelligent and with less morals in his family, his brother, Edward Reese (Mr.Reese-Mysteries). After he knows about his brother's murder, it seems that he is really pissed off and already has some people to blame for it: First, all the family of the cop is brutally killed by him. The only clue is a riddle sent to the police (obviously at the beginning nobody knows anything about who could be the murderer, who is Edward Reese, his brother, and all the back story that will be revealed in the movie later). The police and Batman start to investigate. Edward Reese, using a fake name, Edward Nygma, blames the police too for don't doing his job right stopping The Joker before the hospital "incident" and for the death of his brother, so he will "play" with them too with his riddles. But his ultimate objectives are two, the principal cause, in his opinion, of the death of his brother: Batman and The Joker. This seems to have been written before Heath Ledgers death, so in this initial script, Joker was very important in the movie, being one of The Riddler's objectives. I don't know if Nolan will recast The Joker or will finally not include him on the story :(. What do you think? It seems they (Nolan brothers) had everything planned from the beginning and Coleman Reese was a more important character than what anybody thought.

Really? A prancing, slightly gay Ace Ventura on some sort of coked out high in a unitard? I wouldn't define that as awesome. I mean, maybe to you thats awesome... but the Riddler, like every post-Batman Returns villain was horribly mismanaged.

Here's to hoping we've seen the last of any villain sporting a pair of tights.

Please tell me the source of this supposed leak, so that I may know never to take said source seriously. Ever. I'd prefer Engel being the Riddler to that crap. :o

lol i admire your honesty sir! :oldrazz: Doesnt sound so bad to me!!! Im up for anything!!! :D
Well, I thought it would be better than Coleman Reese being The Riddler and would connect well TDK with the sequel. And would explain the Mr.Reese-Mysteries thing. And would be cool The Riddler was an enemy for Batman, the police and The Joker. This story would justify it. And this guy should be The Riddler-Edward Reese-Edward Nygma:

The Ridller could be like the villain from Die Hard 3: With a vengeance. If you remember it, he used riddles and wanted revenge for his brother (and money).

lol, well at least you fessed up. And welcome to the Hype!
Thanks!!!:D

Although if the Riddler is going to show up he MUST be more of a mastermind/genius type. Im not all for the crazy Jim Carrey portrayal. I grew up watching the animated series---and I love the way they portrayed the Riddler. Very reserved, but visciously smart.
But I dont know what to expect in the next movie!!!! I wish it didnt take so long for them to come out :( lol

I think the Riddler should be the genius lead singer of a rock band called The Riddlers who hides his riddles within his own rap/rock lyrics and Batman must solve them all using clues.
