The Dark Knight The New Batusi Lounge-The Sequel

LOL!!! Well here's an odd one for you. When I went to Ireland (this was 13 years ago) I bought a ticket for Aer Lingus, but I got stuck riding a Russian plane - yes, Aeroflot, of all the bloody things - and that was rather horrific. Meanwhile there were these lovely green airplanes with Aer Lingus painted on the side in large friendly letters taking off. They were probably drinking Bailey's and listening to Tommy Makem.

Me, I'm drinking suspicious-looking lemonade and wiping my face with a paper napkin that has a sickle and hammer embossed on it, and when we come in for a landing at Shannon the whole plane is shaking like they put us on tumble dry. The windows fogged up.

Anyway, the toothpaste thing is hilarious but I have to say, I love the sound of Gaelic words. Oro se do beatha bhaile and all that. Of course my name is Sean... yeah, and when I was a kid, an awful lot of Americans had no clue how to pronounce that. :cmad:
Russian technology. Can't beat it. I hate dodgy-looking lemonade - how many artificial colourings and preservatives must there be in those things?
The language is lovely, but is pretty much dead. Nobody uses it in daily life excpet in the Gaeltacht areas in small pockets of certain counties, and those areas are depopulating quickly.
How hard is Sean?
I'm Paddy, for God's sake. So when I meet a non-Irish person and introduce myself, they laugh and go 'Of course.' Like we all have red hair, freckles and wear green:cmad: .

Honestly? Nobody over here cares about that Scooter Libby crap except for journalists and politicians jockying for an election. Most people over here couldn't even tell you what the guy did.

Hell, I'm not even sure *I* know what he did.
Exposed an undercover CIA agent on Cheney's behalf (allegedly) because her husband was critical of the regime's reasons for going to war. Git.
It does seem big - if Clinton had done that, I imagine it would be bigger. But maybe we get a distorted view of things over here.

:ninja:.

But seriously. MTV is like the worst channel on TV nowadays.

I love VH1 though.

When I was a teenager, VH1 was the lame channel that adults watched to see Rod Stewart and Phil Collins videos.

Now if I watch a music channel, it's VH1. I keep telling myself that VH1 has changed their format and now plays cool music.

But I'm afraid it may also mean that I am getting old.

What did you have in mind?

Well, something like cunning linguist, except... I suppose this would be air linguist.

As I say, it's either a game you play in an airplane bathroom, or... something quite a bit more disturbing. :ninja:

LOL. Well I'm a huge fan of 80s music. So, it's either your taste in music, or yes, you're getting old. ;).

I'm the same. But the music on VH1 is definitely better than it was, if for no other reason than 'alternative' rock has become so mainstream in the last 15 years, since Nirvana broke, I guess.
MTV is rubbish now, and no sane person can watch it.
Oh, there was a fish product, battered cod, or plaice or whatever, sold under the trade name 'Iasc'. Which means....? Fish, of course.
Tremendous imagination, those Irish.

There's only game I can think of playing in an airplane bathroom, well only one club I can think of joining.:ninja:

I'm not certain it wasn't diluted piss with some sugar added.

That's a damned shame. It really is beautiful.

How hard is Sean?

Apparently extremely hard. I got called "Seen," "Shane," and "See-un" on many occasions. People still want to call me "Shane." It got so that I'll just ignore them unless I hear my name pronounced correctly. I mean good Christ, how many Americans know the name of the first mofo who played James Bond? You can pronounce it for HIM, but not for me? Gah! Sean Bean? Sean "P. Diddy" Combs (he'll always be Puff Daddy to me)?

I'm Paddy, for God's sake. So when I meet a non-Irish person and introduce myself, they laugh and go 'Of course.' Like we all have red hair, freckles and wear green:cmad: .

Padraig. Good solid Irish name. I do see how it can be a problem, though. I'll just say that as an American I am evidently a coarse, self-centered, xenophobic cowboy. Except that I'm not. I think everybody who is from somewhere has a some stereotype to live down.

Really? Wow. Okay, see, that's the sort of thing that's good to know. The media talks about the guy all the time but they never mention what he did, just that we're supposed to hate him. The problem is I don't need the media to tell me who to hate, I need them to tell me what the hell is going on. And they so rarely do.

I like a little of everything, except most of what's been done in the past ten years.

Patrick, to be pedantic.:cwink: Good to meet you, Sean.
Now, back to Keyser and itsthebatman. Resume codename status - this line isn't secure!

Come to me for your news. I will keep you informed.:yay:

You seem to be laboring under the impression that this board is public property. It is not. The owners of this board have the right to set any rules they like, and to enforce them as they see fit.

sorry if i make some mod's mad but i just wanted to speak my mind.

Good luck with that. I can think of at least two problems with that last statement.

I only like "In the Air Tonight" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Phil and Leppard.

But I do love Rod Stewart and Foreigner. :(.

Who do you like?

As far as artists go...

Ugh.
A Flock of Seagulls

Oh dear God.
Aerosmith

Better.

Not my thing, but I'll give you credit for it.

Don't say that too loudly, but I do have the Slippery When Wet album... a childhood favorite of mine. I shouldn't say that too loudly, either.

Who?
Bruce Springsteen

Full credit for that one.

Who?
David Bowie

Credit.
Def Leppard

I wouldn't say that one too loudly, either.
Hall & Oates
Foreigner
Heart
Journey
Loverboy

Uhhhhhhh... just because it's from the 80's, doesn't mean it's not crap. :D

Michael Jackson (from his Thriller album, and nothing else :ninja: )

Two points - one for the album and one for the corollary.
Motley Crue

LOL, wow. Credit.
Phil Collins

It's all been a pack of LIES!!! :D Credit.
The Police

They do nothing for me, and Sting is pretentious git, but you get credit anyway on principle.

Biiiiiiicycle! Biiiiiiiiicycle! Credit.
Rod Stewart

UGH!

LOL. Credit.

Oh hell yes. Although I think their best work thus far is from the 90's (Achtung Baby, Zooropa, POP)

And alot more.

Is that good enough?

Well, it was certainly 80's music. ;)

Currently, listening to albums by Queens of the Stone Age, The National, LCD Soundsystem, Editors, Rufus Wainwright, Arcade Fire (not all at once obviously). Some of my favourite all-time artists would be (in no particular order) Blur, Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Pixies, Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers, U2, Nirvana, Spiritualised, Sufjan Stevens, The Divine Comedy, Johnny Cash. Also love The Killers, Interpol, the White Stripes, Coldplay, Doves.

Patrick, to be pedantic.:cwink: Good to meet you, Sean.

Back atcha, sir.

I have pity on American girls named Siobhan. And I've met a couple. Can you imagine the hell they must go through? Take my name issues and multiply it by ten!

Now, back to Keyser and itsthebatman. Resume codename status - this line isn't secure!

TEOL!!!! :D

Come to me for your news. I will keep you informed.:yay:

Hehehe... sad I have to do that, but, fair enough. :)

Thank you, Keyser. For the most part. And I only like 1 song from Hall & Oates and 1 from Loverboy. I do like the others though.

I do like them.

But yea, we pretty much are on 2 different pages.

Haha, Coldplay. You know how I know you're gay?
