you'd think that famous people would at least be smart enough to keep their mouths shut, even if they are ****ed up enough to have thoughts like those.

I'm not calling him one but I figure if you think what he said was Ok then you are probably a racist.

I think you are right in some ways and wrong in some ways.

I do not condone racist remarks in anyway. I do not believe myself to be a racist, at hopefully I'm not. I do not agree with what he did and I don't think what he said was OK. As a public figure you have to show restraint in at least some marginal way.

But, "Racist" takes different meanings for different people. Racist to me means someone who actively believes in the superiority of their race over another, such as Ku Klux Klan members, Nazis, etc.

Michael Richards rant was not really so much that, but just a show of being an ignorant fool on a rant. I used to work for a guy who would use a lot of the same words Richards did and said that for "every one successful black person, there's 10 lazy and useless ones", without disclaiming the same issues with people of any race. The guy I worked with, racist, Richards, maybe a racist but definitely an ignorant fool.

Hell yeah he did. Stupid stupid stupid.

Well, unless you're a racist.

actually to tell ya the truth, i kinda sympathize with richards... did you watch that video? the heckler was eating him alive with his bull crap... You know how many times i've been in a comedy club and they through racial slurs back and forth and no one cares? Sure Richards took it a bit too far, but the Heckler for the most part was getting a taste of his own medicine... It's kinda hilarious because in this day in age... you can make fun of ANY race.. say ANY slur... but one. a white guy can NEVER say the N-word.. without al sharpton or jessie jackson breathing down there neck... but EVERY other racial slur about ANY other race is not as jumped upon... and thats the part that kinda bothers me. Richards did take it too far, but imo the comedy club should have pulled the heckler out of there way before it got to that part.... the man litterally couldnt shut up, he obviously had a bad day and came there to strike at the guy...

funny thing is though you can say that about mexicans and no one cares :whatever: , it just kinda irritates me that its ok for one thing to be said but not the other... and the other group is SOOOO HOSTILE they even seem to freak out when its not even the real issue... It's wrong to make fun of any one for being something they cant help in my book

-Look, he stooped down to the jerks level and took it to far. Right there he f***ed up. He made himself look like an idiot racist and although whether he is just an idiot or an idiot racist we'll neverknow. That besides the point though in public opinion. Quite frankly the majority of the public think he went to far. Serving some guy a "dose of his own medicine" benefitted him how?? By feeling a little better??? Sure, maybe, but at what cost??

-Of course there's double standards with saying certain things concerning other races. There's double standards about all kinds of things. But just because its easier to get away with calling a white guy a honkey or a mexican a beaner doesn't mean it any less. Activists for african americans have ways of attracting attention and such to situations like this while there isn't for other races. Its true, anytime an incident with a hint of racism comes about you get these "activists" perspectives and comments or rants about how apalling it is and such but hey, they speak their mind then so be it. Other races don't have anybody to come out and say anything then thats there own fault. Besides, who gives a s*** what they say anyway, its their opinion and we are entitled not to give a s*** as much as they are entitled to speak their mind. Tell'em to watch Mind of Mencia and deal with it.

-Bad day or not Richards cracked. In the lifetime of the art of comedy I'm sure there's been others that broke down but at the same time I'm sure there were plenty more that sucked it up and went on OR went back at the heckler hard without stooping to their ignorant idotic level. Its said and done and he needs to deal with the fact that it was a dumb ass move.

it was a dumbass move, but i still sympathize for him. I moved on 2 days after... it's stupid imo that people are still talking about it.. this has been one single move that from the way it looks might have ruined what little career he had left... but one person (mel gibson) who has several accounts of racism against jews, will still be able to have a career and shrugged off eventually.. one could even argue that part of the reason is because being racist againt jews seems more "shrug-off-able" then being racist against blacks....

again im not saying richards should be getting away scot free... but I dont think its fair for him to be persecuted this much when soooo many others do more and get away without taking as much damage as he seems to be

Okay...so I am not racist, but I say a lot of racist things, but I am most certainly not racist, I judge people by them not thier race, but i will still say racist things.

Anyway I think that it's kinda funny because the peopel that get more worked up about this racism stuff like the Richards thing are white people for the most part. Just the upiity busy bodies who need something to ***** and whine about....Case in point I have this friend now he happens to be gay (I only say this cause he is the typical flamboyant guy...I mean eally really flamboyant...I can't hang out with him much because it's too annoying....I say this cause it adds to the story not because I am gaycist) so he is *****in an maoning about this richards thing and now he has a newound respect for David Letterman because he dedicated a whole show to Richards appology, I explained to him that Letterman likely only did that because he knew that people like my freind would like Letterman for doing it, then I went into my thing about it being uppity white folks that get more offended.

Then I recieved a blessing, another freind of mine walked into the bar, these two freinds don't know each other and the other guy is black.....I shout out to get his attention I say quite loudly "Hey Darky!"

My Black friend points and comes right over, my other frined absolutely freaks out and just tears a strip out of me for talking like that to someone, now I wouldn't shout that out to someone I didn't know.

But it goes to prove that it's only the people who want to make a big deal out of something that make a big deal out of it.

Well, he was getting heckled and such and then he goes on the rant about how "50 yrs ago we'd have you hung" and screamin "ni99a ni99a ni99a" to this group of black people.

Its ridiculous.

Not meaing to sound rude or racist....lord knows I don't need FTB calling me a Nazi again because I am not

Now this comment that Richards said about "50 years ago we'd have you hung"

It's true, in the 50s if a black guy would have cause a disturbance like that he would have been beaten and hung, hell some places nowadays that can happen,, it's just not nearly as accepted, but 50 years ago it happened and very few though ill of it.

You all saw the reaction Goldie Wilson got when he mentioned running for mayor.

I AM NOT RACIST OR A NAZI.

I AM NOT RACIST OR A NAZI.

That doesn't change the fact that he was referring to something thats now not acceptable (atleast for the majority). There's plenty of things deemed OK that were done then that nowadays we no longer accept as the norm. One of those is hanging black people, in case you hadn't received the memo from your grand dragon.

meh.. i still think people are making toooo much of a big deal.. sure its not somethign to shrug off... but i mean should the guy really be crucified for a one time action?, I'm a person who believes in forgiveness...

Agreed.

the black guys are probably keeping this going cause thye want to use it for thier fifteen minutes.

He was a Nazi general.

And your statements are generally Nazi sympathetic.

So when the shoe fits...
