The New Ghostbusters - Part 6

The original movie made you believe they were scientists because they SHOWED them as scientists. We haven't even seen the specifics of them as scientists yet. How can we make a determination on whether they're believable in context of being experts in their field or not?

What exactly isn't believeable about it thus far?

The way they look? The way they act?

Since when did scientists have to look or act a certain way?

And who says Leslie Jones is a scientist? It looks like she works a blue collar job.

Not the way they look, the way they act. Particularly McCarthy.

I explained it in my post. McCarthy is just acting like all of her other roles, just slapstick. Wiig looks like she's sleep walking. I'm not buying McKinnon as a Mechanical Engineer. Sorry, but no. (yes I've worked with mechanical engineers before). I know Jones isn't a scientist, that's why I said she's the most believable of all, she's playing the loud obnoxious part, doesn't take much acting chops to do that.

If you've worked with mechanical engineers before, then I would assume you know that they have a range of personalities and appearances. Like the rest of humanity. The suggestion that a scientist has to look and act a certain way,or that they cannot act or look a certain way, I find that ridiculous.

Seriously, this kind of thing might be more close-minded than caring that they're women.

It would be a hilarious nod if we see another universe with the four guys circa 1984 in it.

Wouldn't surprise me. They seem to be playing with time already. Dimensions was always a thing with Ghostbusters.

It would be a plausible out for them if they say this is just an alternate universe. They could never do a crossover due to the aging and Ramis being gone, but still.

Their next move should be to actually just cut a trailer that properly represents the movie and show what makes it unique... it worked for Deadpool guys and that was rated R. BE YOURSELF, CLASS.

Unless the true representation of this film was that trailer then they're in trouble.

Times Square appears to be reverting into an older version. Wonder if there is a link to the original after all. What if Feig pulled off a '21 Jump Street' scenario and in the end it turns out that this is connected to the original, but only here it's like a parallel universe or something . Or maybe the whole city is just a ghost. Oh well.

Anyway, I still think the movie looks good. It's just the trailer didn't really have a lot of jokes.

Because plot twist, the 4 heroes from 30 years ago are actually the 4 heroines from this movies.

Ghostbusters official release of the trailer, interesting, enough was received with 175,000 likes, 10,000 loves, 3,800 smiley faces eyes closed, 1,500 worried, 1,100 Crying, and 7,600 Angry faces. In other words, overwhelming positive. Just goes to show that branching out shows us that the response for the film is much more varied than just epic fail. Ghost Corps page has a similar breakdown.

Eh. I think you're giving the fanboy community too much credit. Unless the critics and media turn on this film a LOT, which so far they have not done, I don't think a vocal subset of fans hating something is going to make the general audience forget how funny and entertaining they thought various comedies with these women in it were. These are well known comedic personalities, with a proven track record of success.

As opposed to the Snobbery Community.

It's odd, because the movie has the same cinematographer that did Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

But it's not the new movie page. It's the all things Ghostbusters official page. I like it before the new movie was announced.

Feig's trailers are not great in general. Spy was great, but the trailer didn't snag me. It was the reviews and WOM.

I want the movie to be better than the impression I got from the trailer, significantly so.

They have had years to make new Ghostbusters movie and this is the result. The trailer wasn't completely terrible but I just wish this movie didn't exist. They had so many years to make a sequel and for some reason it didn't happen.

The game published by Atari is their official sequel.

I'm sure the film itself will be fun and also laced with a ton of funny moments. I don't get the sense this will be the kind of disgrace to the art of film that some people are making it out to be, even if the trailer didn't blow us all away.
