It really does seem like they switched marketing or something. After the reception of the last trailer I'm curious to see how they will play the next one. These new posters with quotes really don't give me confidence that they know how to market it.

Watch, this movie is going to make a killing opening weekend.

Why? Because people will go and see it just to have something to ***** about. It's like the Kardashians. People want them to go away, but talking about how much we all want that keeps them in the news cycle.

True, it'll prolly be a Transformers/Ninja Turtles deal. The brand will attract people but most of the actual money will come from people who saw it to complin about it. This is why directors that people seem to hate like Bay and Snyder still make movies. Because as long as they make money it doesn't matter to them what the critics or fans say.


Hype or not, you gotta admit that theme remix in the trailer goes hard. I need the soundtrack for that!

I definitely think this movie will make money on opening weekend, but I'm not sure how well it'll do overall. Right now, it has an uphill battle. I don't think I've ever seen a trailer get so much hate before in my life, and the marketing after that hasn't really changed any sort of tone. Those posters are pretty lame, and that cover is incredibly bland. It's just them jumping with a blank background, with no ghosts or anything. It's a really odd cover.

Yeah apparently there is a female Slimer that gets up to hijinks with male Slimer.

They steal Ecto-1, and the version I saw had a sedan version of the Cadillac, I assume to make the stunt driving easier and they will turn it into a station wagon again in post. Plus the two Slimer ghosts were people wearing rubber Slimer heads and black tights.

Yup! This! The marketing is terrible. I enjoyed the movie. It's not perfect, but it's enjoyable and quite funny. The marketing is making me retroactively hate myself for enjoying the movie, whereas this vignette reminded me of some of the funnier moments and the tone that I liked.

As much as I support this movie and want it to be great, the marketing is doing it's hardest to make me have serious doubts. I just don't like anything that I've been seeing apart from those first posters.

I do hope the marketing is just bad and they're trying hard to capture what the originals did and the film ends up being good for what it is on its own terms. Them trying to be like the original film in the marketing just isn't working if this is all the case. If they got something different, they should stay true to that.

This isn't working. These are new Ghostbusters with a new cast. Market that and its strengths and newness. Don't try to make them look like the original cast or the original film because they're not.

Listen, almost every movie has heroic male leads. Literally almost every single one. Even Fury Road, Force Awakens and Rogue One have heroic male leads. getting butt hurt by the occasional female centric movie is ridiculous. It is not a double standard when the vast majority of action, comedy and sci fi/fantasy is male centric. It is a reflection of society.

Besides any of all of that, being okay with a female centric movie, is not the same as hating movies with mostly male characters.

There being a female centric movie isn't the problem. The movie is bad looking to me. I can say with certainty that I'm interested in only one actress/character. And there's a difference between having a movie with a female centric cast and copying a movie with a male cast and gender swapping them. Have a very great day!
