It's a recognizeable franchise, to be sure. But I'm always shocked at how many people, especially the younger generations, haven't seen it, or worse, don't like the original movies.
What's this about a crappy game? Have people played the game already?
This theme song cover isn't really my thing. But it's also just a cover that exists because, in situations like this, people expect a cover. It doesn't strike me as awful, and it doesn't strike me as great. It's a hip, modern "cover" of a classic song. How many of those are anywhere near as good as the original? Hoobastank did an ok metal version of the original theme a couple years ago, I guess.
I love the original song. But I love it because it's the Ghostbusters theme and I grew up with it, not because it was, in itself, a particularly great song. Structurally, it was fairly generic, repetitive, etc.
On another note, it is kind of amusing that the Ghostbusters theme song has a "so and so featuring so and so" going on. Sign of the times, I guess. I can't bring myself to care that much. I'm sure it will work fairly well in the context of the film. Sounds like a high-octane montage song or something.
